My Gift To You

Last year a very kind lady gifted me with a bookmark. Since I read many hours every day, I handle this bookmark several times a day. Occasionally I glance at the words, and often I take the time to read the words, really seeing them and reaching out and embracing them.

If it were possible for me to duplicate the bookmark and send it to each of you over the internet, I would gladly do it. Instead, it is my pleasure to share the words with you in this post.

I wish you enough sun
to keep your attitude bright.

I wish you enough rain
to appreciate the sun more.

I wish you enough happiness
to keep your spirit alive.

I wish you enough pain
so that the smallest joys in
life appear much bigger.

I wish you enough gain
to satisfy your wanting.

I wish you enough loss
to appreciate all that you possess.

I wish you enough hellos
to get you through
the final good-bye.

  5. Hi, Technobabe! What a beautiful gift! I love all of the lines, and the last one is something I will never forget. Thank you very much for sharing it with us.

Your friend sounds like a great person. Bookmarks are wonderful gifts. Yes, we touch them many times and think of the person each time a book is open.

I'll be coming around a little slower this week with the Christmas holidays (traveling to see loved ones), but I'll definitely return. It has been a pleasure to read your site and get to know you in the internet world. Have a beautiful week!

  19. That is an awesome poem. Like you, I read a lot. I may need to pay more attention to my book marks (usually they are scraps of paper).

  20. If I read more, your's certainly would be my favorite bookmark. Nicely done. Don't wish for me any more gain around the waistline though. I need some loss there for sure.
