Police have accused a Texas woman of lying about having breast cancer and spending $10,000 raised at a benefit to have her breasts enlarged.
McLennan County sheriff’s investigator James Pack said in court records that 24-year-old Trista Joy Lathern shaved her head to look like a cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy.
But the plastic surgeon she went to knew about the benefit and called the cops."
When I read articles like this I have to pinch myself and remind myself that this is a true story. Someone actually shaved her head and arranged to attend a benefit in her honor under false pretenses. How sad is that! Someone wanted breast enhancement so desperately that she sold her honor to get it. This is fraud! Hey, I would like a tummy tuck and breast lift surgery (gravity has taken its toll), but I would not lie and cheat and steal to get that done. I don't know if that means I am not vain enough or if I believe in truth, justice, and hanging loose.

I'd like some work done myself. Gravity is a harsh mistress. I've heard that some people think her implants should be surgically removed so that she can make amends. I say she keeps em and just pays double or triple to those effected.
i noticed that the plastic surgeon had no problem doing the surgery and taking the money, however...

That woman should be dragged into the street and shot - preferably in front of many frauds-to-be.
Are you kidding me? This is actually very sad if you think about it. While I would love to have this kind of surgury myself there is no way I can justify spending that kind of money when so many don't have or go without around me. What makes someone resort to this kind of behavior? I am thankful she was caught. I wonder how many people she had scammed out of money before she got caught. Sad.
Karma will bite this lowlife! Taking advantage of good hearted well meaning individuals is not cool. Unfortunately, now people will be more skeptical of the plights of others because of her.

it makes me wonder what made her feel she needed to improve herself enough to lie. i imagine there is another story waiting to be told. sad though.
My mother did have breast cancer and had a double mastectomy about two years ago. Rather extreme for a reduction. Hers were rather large, but her back is grateful. She and I are just happy she still here, flat but loving.

Oh that's despicable really it's so wrong on so many levels... But the surgeon also took her money, did her breast and only reported later, he's not exactly innocent.
Stories like this make me wonder if my belief that people are innately good is misplaced.
