There are some awesome photos in this article.
This is just one of the amazing photographs in the National Geographic International Photography Contest 2009. I would so love to be doing this. I could be Jane and Hubby could by my Tarzan!
About this photograph:
Nazroo, a mahout (elephant driver), poses for a portrait while taking his elephant, Rajan, out for a swim in front of Radha Nagar Beach in Havelock, Andaman Islands. Rajan is one of the few elephants in Havelock that can swim, so when he is not dragging timber in the forest he is used as a tourist attraction. The relationship between the mahout and his elephant usually lasts for their entire lives, creating an extremely strong tie between the animal and the human being. (Photo and caption by Cesare Naldi)

I am subscribed to National Geographic for a year now and I love every issue! My favorites would have to be their amazing photos taken by their readers. So wonderful to look at!

Thanks for the link. The pictures are awesome. I love the one you have posted and also the one of the cross in the hailstorm. The pic of the old man and woman in the field is wonderful. Actually, they all are, but those were my favorites. Happy New Year!
That looks like a total BLAST!!! Great photo.
Happy New Year Techno!!!! I hope it's great for you.
xo
Love the photo!!
It would be so cool to have that kind of bond with an animal. Great photo.
First, OMG! What a great shot. Makes want to read The Jungle Book. What I really stopped by for was to say, regarding my snow haiku, I am completely in agreement with you on the "happy to be inside and warm" concept. I love the outdoors, but I am not very temperature-extremes tolerant. No, if you ever wonder what Yousei is doing on a cold day, picturing me wrapped in a blanket with a good book is the best guess. ;) Thank you for coming by and for your own wonderful blog as well.
I keep finding we have things in common! I have a few websites I check every day, and NG Intelligent Travel is one of my favorites. All the photos have been amazing, and I enjoy the "I Heart My City" series.
Have a great new year, read you in 2010.
