Tantalizing, Tasty, Tauntingly Delicious

Tear open the small package
Remove the contents
It even smells good

The color is pleasing
Crayola named a color this
It even looks good

Place it in your mouth
enjoy the sensation
It even tastes good

As it softens it is better
More manageable
It is so fun

Work it around your tongue
form it into a zero
It is fun to blow

Nothing quite like bubble gum.

Nicely explained! I'd imagine this even without the image!

Love bubble gum too.... But I am a teacher.... So I discourage bubblegums in school. :)

Ms. A said...

It makes my jaws hurt, but I still love bubble gum.

I use to have one of these machines, I wonder now whatever happened to it.
My kids use to love putting their money it and getting a gum. Mine stood on a longer stand.
Thanks for stirring up some memories......:-) Hugs

Ronda Laveen said...

I love smelling bubble gum...unchewed, of course.

I love the machine, I'm not so keen on the gum. Great photo though. I used to have a machine like that when I had a 50's diner style kitchen.

Cindy said...

We had one of these too, don't know what happened to it. Good memories, take care.

Brian Miller said...

oh but ronda the best is right after its been chewed...yeah i like me some bubble gum....

Shanel said...

I don't even really like gum balls... but reading that makes me want one....you made it sound all sexy and delicious..... you are baddddddd:)

A fun tribute to a fun treat. You are right that there is nothing quite like bubble gum. Great writing.

Jana said...

I loved this...so much fun!

DJan said...

I was a bubble gum chewer as a kid, and as a teenager, young adult. Then I kind of lost interest, but I can blow a bubble inside a bubble, so I am an expert! Fun post, TB!

Kazzy said...

I like gum every now and then, but must admit bubble gum kills my jaw. But the colors and description here are great! Makes me want to be a kid again.

My mouth is watering for a piece! Remember the pink Bazooka with the split down the middle, in case you wanted to share a piece. Do they still make it like that?

LadyFi said...

Yum... not to mention those huge bubbles popping on your nose!

Kathy M. said...

Yum! Nothing quite says childhood like Bazooka

Brosreview, glad you like the post.

Shadowthorne, maybe not in school, but as soon as school lets out....

Ms Anthropy,If I chew the gum too long my jaws ache too.

Bernie, I like to buy individually wrapped bubble gums.

Ronda, yes the smell stirs up memories of childhood.

LL Cool Joe, I bet your kitchen was a fun place to hang out.

Cinner, glad to help you remember good times.

Brian, remember "already been chewed" bubble gum that was passed around?

Shanel, I like the two words together "sexy and delicious", thanks.

Jeanie, thanks for letting me know you enjoy the post.

Jana, fun is good, isn't it?

DJan, I think you won the gold star for the bubble inside the bubble. I could never do that.

Kazzy, I think bubble gum gets tougher the longer it is chewed.

Willow, I still like Bazooka the best and I always shared when I had some.

LadyFi, I would try to blow huge bubbles and they would pop over my face!

Kathy, Bazooka memories here!!

Hilary said...

Yum! I'll have a blue one, please!

I had one just like that! Soft bubble gum is the best. Funny, I just realised that must be the only thing I like soft in my mouth! ;-)

Kristina P. said...

Ooooh, I can taste the gumballs now!

Mike said...

Not a big fan of any type of gum. Eventually it will get my jaw popping.

CiCi said...

Hilary, good choice.

Mama Zen, thank you.

Ocean Girl, thanks.

Stinkypaw, Bubble gum starts getting hard to chew quickly, so I just throw out one and get another.

Kristina, they taste good, huh.

Otin, I relate bubble gum to playing hopscotch and marbles.

Sharon K. Mayhew said...

Unless you're old like me..It sticks to my crowns. :( Scheel's Sporting Goods store sells the BEST tasting gum. I chew it for a few minutes then have to get rid of it before it starts sticking....but oh those few minutes are good. :)

Great poem!

Beautiful poem about bubble gum!

Very topical post for here where I work. Somebody brought in a whole gumball machine worth of gumballs, all different colors. I never asked where they got them. Maybe they accidentally knocked a machine over and it broke. Wonder how long a gumball can be good if it's on the ground.

Robert the Skeptic said...

My mother would never allow me to have bubble gum, I believe she considered it a "gateway" which would lead into other vices... such as enjoying food.

Vinny "Bond" Marini said...

I can't chew gum...I swallow it!

Ina in Alaska said...

Nothing like bubble gum.... unless it rips out your fillings...... the days of me and bubble gum are, sadly, over.... xoxo

Sniffles and Smiles said...

Okay...so NOW, I'm craving bubblegum!! And I can't even blow bubbles with it!! You've captured the taste and texture perfectly! This is a fantastic poem and I LOVE the image you put with it! Terrific! ~Janine XO

Oh, and my word verification? gumshe... Yup, gum she chews! ;-)

Bill Lisleman said...

good memories trying to get the biggest bubble gum bubble before it popped over your face.
My dentist tells me I should not chew gum because of my popping jaw. Always something.

So yummily good!

I am not allowed to have gum. I become obsessive about it. I love it, but I'm not allowed.

Blowing bubbles your way....

The very scent of the pink Bazooka gum is enough to transport me back to my school days (grin). Thanks for reminding me!

realiveman should be realivegumman. I love bubble gum!

CiCi said...

Sharon, I know what gum does to crowns. I lost one crown last year and haven't had it replaced.

Pietro, thanks for visiting.

Big Dave, your imagination is awesome. Enjoy the gumballs.

Robert, does that mean you enjoy food too? We do too.

Bond, no you're not supposed to swallow the darn gum, silly!

Ina, sorry to hear it.

Sniffles and Smiles, that is what I hoped to do, get the reader to smell and taste the bubble gum.

lisleman, too bad some of the fun things in life are forbidden when we get older.

Sandy, yes indeed. Very good.

Mami, I could sneak some to you?

Enchanted Oak, thanks for the bubbles.

Shrinky, exactly! Lets be kids again.

Realliveman, I like that. Reallivegumman. Cool.

What a FUN poem! I love the zero in the mouth, too. I'll have to admit that I'm still a big kid and love bubble gum. I can blow a bubble inside of a bubble:)

Syd said...

Nice--I like to make pop the bubbles. I remember getting it all over my face as a kid.

Unknown said...

Wow. That was so good. You are an amazing writer!

CiCi said...

Hi Julie, thanks. I knew you would like the fun in this poem.

Syd, I picture you as one of the boys I would play marbles with and chew bubble gum.

Life with Kaishon, that's the way I feel about your blog.

It's a forever treat, isn't it??? I don't chew sugar gum anymore, but I sure chew gum at least a couple times a day!

I must have eaten/chewed a ton of it in my childhood. I have the cavities to prove it!

I hardly ever chew gum. Gets my jaws sooo tired right away! lol

Well said. I still remember when I learned to blow bubbles with chewing gum. It was a big thrill.

Sorry I've been MIA but thanks for the heads up on your hubby's FABULOUS music!!!! He's a gifted artist and I'm going to purchase his CD so I can enjoy all the songs for years to come.... And when he's famous I'll be able to say "I knew him when...."

Cheers,
jj

Oh my yes, Bubblegum and the memories, sweet they are, that it invokes! Unfortunately, for the past roughly 15-20 years, chewing any kind of gum has been first difficult and now impossible for me to do as it yanks the old dentures out virtually immediately!
BTW -I DO have my grandma's recipe for the Rhubarb Cream pie! E-mail me and I will copy it and send it to you! (avonlady at gotmc dot net)

I love blowing bubbles. Now I wish I had some gum. :)

I really like good black and white photos. I've often wondered what types of photos look as good or better in black and white. I think the project will help me to create better black and white pictures because I'll be on the hook to consistently come up with them. Also I felt like I needed to give Something Sighted a little more focus and structure. :)

I love the smell more than the actual chewing.
