This is the time of year the gardens are planted.
We have made the choice to watch the animals in the yard and not plant an outside garden. The parsley and oregano from last year survived the snow so they are the only plants outside this year. I guess the rabbits and raccoons aren't into herbs.
This is a picture of my garden. The three things I want the most. I labeled the pots on the picture. I won't be weeding this year. But hopefully we will have plenty of tomatoes and green peppers and the sweet basil I grow all year long.

Now that's low maintenance. I might even be able to pull that one off! lol
Now that's a garden I might even be able to handle. Maybe I'll start my first garden this year.
I'd just like one measly tomato plant. I'd probably kill it and be accused of murder. My thumbs are black.
Good luck! I hope your peppers and tomatoes are better than mine were. Last year we had tomatoes indoors and outdoors - the indoor ones died while the outdoor ones gave a huge crop.
Well that is low maintenance and I think you got the right idea. I have to admit my garden takes alot of my energy. I do have a few things I keep in pots though.Have fun watching your garden grow. I usually plant on May long weekend. take care.
there is nothinglike tomatos out of the garden...
I love tomatoes. We have three tomato plants in my garden. My Dog hates them, so the plants are safe...:)
Hope you get lots of tomatoes!
Toodles!
Coming over for salad and other fixings in late summer. LOL.Love gardens.
With those three things, I think you're still in pretty good shape this year!
It looks like you will be having a bountiful harvest, and one you will enjoy. I think this is a great gardening plan.
Hmmmm. Maybe I'll start a garden like this one. I've got just the window...
Nice..!!! :)
I guess I could even have a garden!
That is a super garden idea! You must have a very nice toasty spot for those tomatos. I love fresh peppers - they are pretty as they grow. Please once in a while give us an update.
I am thinking of putting a few flowery pots out on the deck but that is it. My dogs run thru my raised garden bed and I cannot keep them out of it. It is like their sandbox, they dig in it and bury their treats in it!
Enjoyed the airline story in the post below--- very funny!!! xoxoxo
Nice! Gardening in pots is great. Enjoy your harvest.
Yum. I'm with you. Fresh-picked tomatoes and basil and peppers. Nothing better.
I have never managed to grow basil. I don't know what my problem is.
We are actually planning on planting some oregano, basil, chili peppers and a few other things this year...
Where are you growing the water melons?
Eva-Jane and I have just got a new garden, I may be taking some tips from you.
Holy Moley! Looks like Bruschetta will be on the menu soon!
That is the way to go. I put out a small tomato plant and we had frost which took care of that. I would like to have an indoor garden, saves being chewed up by the mosquitoes here!
I've always loved growing and using home-made ingredients.
awesome! you are rockin it! I love garden fresh tomatos! last year we had pumpkins!! 9 of them,,.. then an early freeze so they all turned to mush,...ewwwwwww
I've just recently discovered how delicious basil is when included in a salad. Good luck with your garden. :)
That is very awesome. I don't think I would be able to take care of a garden and not even take care of such delicate plants. There is nothing better than fresh peppers and tomatoes on the table. :)
I love it! I grew basil inside one year and it was so much fun! Now it's outside, but still in a container :-) Good luck!
I tried that one year....forgot to water the poor things...I watered all the houseplants, but not the ones I ate. Probably a mixed message in there. Maybe it's time to try again!
if the rabbits get to those plants you are in trouble.
Just don't put a web cam on them. That would be boring.
all the best
I can dig that - and not the pots, I mean.
If I had 3 pots like that, they'd be dead by this time next week :D
Since our sunroom is supposed to be done this week, we're thinking of doing some indoor gardening too. Eliminates the bending and weeding. I'm hoping for an herb garden of some kind.
Yeah, I have some ballsy, brazen bunnies in my yard too. The saw down my veggies quick like a bunny. They even climb (hop) up into my BIG pots of flowers and mow down all the blossoms, 5 feet away from me. They don't hop out and run off until I'm within smacking distance.
The never touch my herbs.
I love your little indoor garden. :)
What a terrific idea!!! I think I need to adopt your plan!!! I love it...a perfect solution to weeds and pests. ~Janine XO
Your garden is lovely. You have the essentials right there. All you need is sunshine and water, plus time.
I am stubborn. I am growing things both in the ground and in pots outside. My herbs and strawberries came back from last year, and I just placed a couple of tomatoes under each of my tomato plants so they would understand what is expected of them. And now we wait.
My garden is in the grocery store! lol
Great idea Techno. And great choices to plant :-)
I planted 4 tomato plants this year-- the first time I've done that in years. I've never had much luck with them but I'm hoping for the best.
Good luck with yours!

Going to bottle spaghetti sauce? I need to plant more. It is so satisfying.
I have planted a grapefruit tree.
I'm serious. I was eating a grapefruit a few weeks back and I thought to myself, "Self, why should this seed end up in the trash?", so I planted it in a big pot. It is now sprouting and rapidly growing.
I have no idea what I'll do with it when it gets to be as tall as my ceiling, but it will make a good blog post later this year :-)
I'm not a green pepper fan, but if I could only plan two things it would be tomatoes and basil. Mmmmm.
Oh my. I must be channeling you since I just shared my window sill garden although I have been carrying it around in my head for a number of days. At any rate, you are much more ambitious than I for I cower at the responsibility of caring for tomatoes and green peppers. Good luck and keep us "posted" on the progress.
Good idea! Thank you for sharing!
Love that idea. My husband always plants a garden and he puts too much in. Green peppers, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, green beans. And since we seem to live life on the fly, most of it goes to waste. I'd love to have just a few pots with tomatoes and peppers. I guess I would miss the cucumbers, so I'd want to keep them. And NO weeding sounds wonderful.
I love making homemade pesto from basil. Good luck with your goodies :)
A lot of my friends do 'window box' gardens. I keep say I'm going to do one in my kitchen window for herbs, but I never seem to get around to it! We don't have much room for gardening, but we did plant tomatoes in our side yard, and we do have mint and basil growing there too!
