Question.
Who was Pat Tillman?
How did he die?
No googling, please.
Just from your memory, what do you call to mind?
I look forward to your answers.
If you don't know the name, please leave that answer in a comment.
A new post about this to follow.

Pat Tillman was a soldier who was a former NFL player. He died in combat under questionable circumstances. His death was as sad to me as the loss of each and every one of our men and women who have served. I wish they could all get the same type of hero treatment in the media, as well as the same type of scrutiny of their deaths.

His name was familiar, but I could not place it until I read Don's answer. His death received a lot of coverage over here too.
Don't know the name. Sorry.
Pat Tillman was a football star married to a wonderful woman who after 9/11 was caught up in Bush's idiotic war mongering and gung ho patriotism and dropped his NFL contract and left his family to become an Army Ranger and he was shot and killed by friendly fire, other members of the US military, in Afghanistan. The Bush gov't tried to lie about it and make it look heroic, but it was an accidental death or if you prefer an accidental murder. About as useless a death as anyone can imagine, which is also true for Bush's overall wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. From my memory, because who could forget this poor guy?
football player, died in the war...
Okay, this answer comes from my memory, nothing else.
He's the soldier, who voluntarily left professional football to go to Afghanistan or Iraq and was killed.
Am I correct?
Pat Tillman was a football player, I think, and he quit to go to Afghanistan (or Iraq) after 9/11. He was killed by friendly fire and it was covered up. I think a book has just come out about it. I remember seeing his parents on TV wanting to know what really happened.
I didn't read ay of the comments so I could think what I knew on my own. Now I'll read them.
A football player, yes. I believe he played for the Washington Redskins. He He did leave the football arena to join the Army -the Rangers -to go to war in Afghanistan where he was killed. Yes, the government did a lot of talking about that death too -proclaiming him to be a war hero and all that kind of stuff. Then, when people became suspicious and wanted to know more about his death, an investigation showed he was not killed in combat but instead, had actually been murdered. Lots of cover-up involved in this case, for sure.
Ah. I refused to Googlecheat, but the comments have refreshed my memory, and made me revise my intended smart-ass answer.
I remember now.
I did not Google or read the other comments so I am shooting from the hip (memory/impressions)
Pat Tillman: Handsome, football player who decided to go into the military.
I believe he was killed by friendly fire. I recall there being a controversy about his death.
Sad story. Seemed to be a fine young man.
Glad you are on the mend CiCi xoxo
Sorry, I haven't a clue.
He was a football player that was in the military (Marines), and there was some controversy how he died. Friendly fire, perhaps? That's what I cam remember.
No idea (before reading the comments). And still, I don't really remember it.
I am not looking at anyone elses answers until I am done. He was a killed in Afghanistan from friendly fire..he played Football for some team..he felt strongly about the War and left pro football to be in the service..it was sad when he died:(
I have no idea who he was...
I have absolutely no clue.
Yes I knew who Pat Tillman was but not because of his leaving the NFL for the war, or that the government tried to use his death as more propaganda but I remembered the eulogy his brother gave at his funeral. Weird I know but that is what I remember the most.....:-)Hugs
He was the NFL player who joined the army after 9/11. He was killed, and the army falsified quite a bit about the manner of his death to create a propaganda hero.
Pat Tillman was a professional football player who quit to become a soldier. After news of his death, his family dug, pushed and prodded for answers and found out he was killed by friendly fire. It is a tragic story on many levels.
Don't know.
He was a football player who enlisted after 9/11 and was killed by friendly fire (I think that was determined, I may be having a brain fart).
Football player. Wasn't he the one that went to Iraq or Afghanistan and got killed?
A football player who left his career to enlist in the army and was killed in Afghanistan by friendly fire. There was a cover-up and suspicions that he had been murdered.
But to tell you the truth, I don't remember what happened with the investigation. I suppose that's the power of the media in our lives. Once it's out of the headlines, we tend to forget. That makes me ashamed of myself. On the other hand, we see, read, and hear so much news that it's sometimes hard to keep up and stay sane. It also makes me wonder how much is truth.
I didn't know until I read the first comment. Seems we could all use a refresher. Anxious to see your next post.
I have no idea who this person is Techno. Please, enlighten us. :)
No googling leaves me ignorant. I don't like to be ignorant, Technobabe. But count me in as being uninformed.
Pat Tillman was a son, brother, husband and friend who played football before 9/11. Then he was a soldier. How did he die? In my opinion, he was murdered.
