New Pottery
The bowl with lid would probably be used as a sugar bowl but here in our little hippie house this bowl is a perfect container for my herbs.
Hubby cut a shelf and mounted it at the back of the stove to utilize the narrow space there. I use the shelf for spoons and seasonings. I am in the process of changing the colors in the kitchen from blue and yellow to red and black and white.
Gary at Gary's Third Pottery Blog makes some wonderful pottery. Really amazing work.
I bought the (sugar) bowl and when he mailed the bowl to me he included a darling gift. See the cat and kitten on the shelf? I like the cats so much and they add whimsey to the kitchen. While I am cooking I look up and smile at the cats.
Check out Gary's blog and say hi. He and his wife are fun to get to know. And I have a couple more pieces of Gary's pottery I plan on buying for gifts.

That cat is cute. It also helps that it's not real.
Thanks for the kitchen view! I always enjoy a peek into people's homes... kinda like the stranger from your post below..... aha! Now I know where you keep the herbs!! xoxox
cute little cats...and i like the little bowl....hope you have a wonderful weekend techno!
These pottery items are truly lovely. I like the sheen of them. And it was so nice to add those little creatures. Sharon Wagner did the same for me, she put in lots of extras when I bought a picture from her!
That is cute!
very nice, i love the little herb pot!
hello kitty!
the little pot is cute but so much nicer when it's made by someone you know!
nice choice on the red, black and white...i love the colors together, too!
Great idea for the shelf. And your new color scheme sounds great. There's something fresh and vibrant about black, white, and red together. The bowl is lovely and the cat/kitten sculpture is charming! What a lovely gift.
OH GOLLY!!!!!!!!! SMOOOOOOOOOCH! Big hugs and kisses and thanks to you :)
The red, black and white kitchen sound very fun and I like your little kitty.
Those really are such nice pieces!
Love it! I too would use it for herbs or something like that...how fun to get something new and handmade by someone you've gotten to know through blogging...very neat...and how nice of them to include the cats...I will have to go check them out! Have a nice weekend! :) XX
Simple yet elegant design.
that bowl is cool, and i have had that exact stove in some kitchen in my life. it's a cozy space, with the pots and pans hanging down. the kitchen is the most social and warm place in a house often. i love seeing people's kitchens, even glimpses.
Greta sugar/herb bowl. I have a blueish pottery sugar bowl that was meant to be a honey bowl - I wanted the opening in the lid so I could leave a sugar spoon in it.
Good that you're keeping a lid on it. Sometimes it gets hot in the kitchen. So be careful not to jump from the flying pan into the fire.
The new color scheme sounds very dramatic and is a personal favorite of mine! It's always fun to play with a new color scheme and accessorize and you're off to a great start with Gary's pottery. I read the post about the church group. I'm really amazed you ran into a whole room full of people who all had "perfect" childhoods. I very rarely run into that nowadays. Sometimes when you dig a little deeper, other things come out.
Heehee. I love that I follow a hippie blog. :)
Hey Techno-- I just checked out Gary's blog and can see why you like it so much. He's very talented.
And what nice additions to your kitchen. The little cats are sweet and made me smile too.
Hope your weekend is grand! xo jj
Absolutely marvelous! I am heading over there! I love it! You have great taste and pottery...you can't go wrong. It's great stuff.
Everything looks so cozy over your stove.....the pottery is lovely.
......:-)Hugs
That's cool to get a look into your home, I'll check out his site now. :)
I shall certainly check out Gary's blog. The (sugar) bowl is fine. Like the style of pottery.
Nice to have something that makes you smile strategically placed around the house. :-)
Very sweet.
Thinking about you and yours....
Sending happy thoughts your way!
It looks like a lovely sugar bowl. I will go over and visit with them.
I love that you keep herbs in the sugar bowl! :)
Nice things. I am glad that you have the little cat there. It made me smile too.
Little hippie pottery is awesome. Your kitchen and mine will match soon!
