Jane Austen Exhibition

This picture is Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy and Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth Bennet in the movie "Pride and Prejudice". I think I have seen every Colin Firth movie.

I am a huge fan of Jane Austen. New York is too far to travel to see this exhibition. But I will continue to investigate everything about it.

"A major Jane Austen exhibition, which has opened in New York, is creating a huge stir among fans and cultural commentators. More than 100 items, including rare manuscripts and letters written by the British author to her family, have gone on display at the Morgan Library and Museum in Manhattan.

The letters - which is the largest collection in the world - are full of the author's famous stinging wit and her spirited sense of humour.

A highlight of the exhibition is the only surviving and complete handwritten manuscript of one of Austen's novels, Lady Susan."

She is also a great favourite of mine. The BBC has produced some wonderful period dramas of hers which has kept me riveted to the screen for many a week. I visited her birthplace a few years ago, and found it fascinating.

Hi Shrinky, nice to meet more Jane Austen fans. I too watched any Austen mini series and/or show that ever was put on the screen. Did you take photos of your visit to her birthplace?

Hey Brian, Mr. amazing writer! I think it would be awesome to traipse through the exhibition.

Cinner, I know a fellow Colin Firth fan! Whatever it is that is nice to have, he's got it!! He is one of my favorite actors. Take it easy today and read and rest. I just finished a book last night and am starting the new one this morning.

I adore Colin Firth. If I never thought I could love him more, I saw in him in the High Grant movie "Love, Actually" and loved him twice as much!

As for the illustrious Ms. Austin...nothing can be said except that she is my hero(ine).

Oops--typo. I did mean Ms. AustEn..not Austin, Texas. LOL

I have lingered awhile on this post, during which I visited Amazon.com to check out the Lady Susan novel, which I am going to go out and get today... I am a huge Jane Austen fan and have read most of her books. Somehow I missed this one and look forward to reading it.... her heroine is apparantly "bad to the bone"... unlike her other characters...

and as for Colin Firth..... you had me at "Colin" oh how I love this man, so handsome, I am a huge fan..... xoxoxo

I recently tried to read the original text of one of her books and couldn't finish it. However have like all the movie adaptions. The first Mr Darcy I saw was Alan Badel and he has always been the only Mr. Darcy for me. Before your time it was a 1958 BBCTV series

I wish I could go, too. I adore Jane Austen and would love to see my homeland of New York again.

Maybe they'll take the exhibit on the road someday like that of King Tut.
