Pleasant Surprise

Hubby grew a beard for awhile at the beginning of winter. The beard came in dark auburn like his hair, whereas his mustache and goatee have been getting lighter for the past couple years.

This week hubby shaved off the beard. The beard was just an experiment. It was a change and to me he looked great.

Two days ago hubby decided to shave off the mustache and goatee. I had never seen him clean shaven. Ever. I didn't know his face looked like that. In a few days he will grow the mustache and goatee back. The biggest surprise for me has been to watch him walking outside doing chores and inside the house with a smile. With the hair on his upper lip and chin, I had no idea that he was smiling all the time.

Cool, huh?

I grew undergrowth when interviewing committees consistently thought I looked too young for promotion. First time with the hair, I got the job!

Every now I then I proclaim that I am going to shave my beard. My wife insists that I should not shave.

She wants to keep me hidden.

I met my husband when he had a beard and once I came home and he had shaved it off. I really felt like he was a different person, he looked so different.

When he grew it back, I was secretly pleased. He looks so much more like the man I love! :-)

My hubby had a beard of various lengths and fullness for about 10 years. He was clean shaven when we met (except for his little mustache)but was in the habit of only shaving every couple of days until I finally told him every day or not at all. 10 years later he shaved it off. I had forgotten how wonderful cheek to cheek felt.

I have had to come to grips with the fact that as a fireman, my husband will never have a goatee again. Sob.

My hubby has had a beard for as long as we've been married (35 yrs.) When our youngest son was born with a dimple in his chin, the best man from our wedding said, "Just like his Dad!" We had to look at photos from college days to see that hubby had a dimple there too. Funny what we get used to, isn't it?

He has a great smile and great dimples!

I'd been married 20 years when my husband shaved off his mustache for the first time ever. I'd seen the goatee come and go. (I like him w/ the goatee.) But I too had never seen my husband completely without facial hair. It was really a disconcerting feeling. I asked him to grow it back and it's been there ever since.

He's a handsome man.

My ex had a mustache the entire time I knew him. Then, one day he shaved it off. It took me months to get used to seeing him clean shaven!

I have two facial hair stories but since I don't to take too much in the comments I'll just tell you one. Being in the USAF my hair style had to be within very strict limits which I didn't care for but didn't think it was worth rocking any boat. So I grew a mustache and just kept it forever. I done remember any reason but one day after years and years I shaved it off. My young 5 or 6 yr old daughter became a little scared of me. She didn't see her dad in me or something. It grew back and has been there ever since.

One day I'd like to grow a beard, I'm hoping it will cover up my miserable face!

Who's a pretty boy?
Say a big hello to him from me!
and a big hello to you too.
I've been busy in the big bad world and not much time for blogging lately.
How's his Sunday Roast coming?
I expect you can see him smile now when he answers the questions LOL

Clean shaven for the first time-- That's a big change! And what a nice treat to see him smiling all the time. Are you sure you want him to grow it back :-)

And it goes without saying that James is very handsome.

Your man is very handsome! I like that he smiles often. :)

Your husband looks so distinguished! I'd love to see a photo without the face hair to compare.

I've always liked beards, but clean-shaven is nice too. My husband has done both, and either one is fine with me.

Nice about the smile!
All the best,
Eileen
PS ~ I've been trying to visit here often but I'm having trouble with Blogger again, I just keep getting blank pages and error messages. I posted new this weekend but the post is lost in cyberspace somewhere. It said I posted successfully, but it's not posted to my blog so I don't know where it went.

My hair is salt-and-pepper with more emphasis on the pepper, but my beard is snow white... like Santa. My "other" hair is still red, like when I was in junior high school. I wish my body would come to some consensus on what color hair it likes.

Hey, he's married to you.. how could he not be smiling? And with such a good-looking guy smiling at you, no doubt your mouth is perpetually upturned as well.

Syd said...

Nice. I don't have any facial hair now. Used to have a full beard and mustache. I am glad to have a full head of hair.

Casey Freeland said...

Ha! That's a good one. I didn't know his face looked like that. Awesome. My love prefers some facial hair on her guy. Cool with me. I'm lazy though. I'll shave it six different ways over the course of the year.

Cheers,

Casey
