My Mooring Lines

As I continue to change and learn and grow, it is important for me to keep my mooring lines in place. Keep them strong. As I progress in my life adventure, I cut off some lines and I need to remember to replace them to keep the core strong. I don't want to be drifting back to old behavior or falling overboard into the murky pain of the past. The goal is to live in the present, face the trials that arrive in my life, make wise choices and use the tools I have at my disposal in my twelve step program and tools I learned in therapy.

Change is inevitable, often preferable in my life. A year ago the mooring lines that were in place have been replaced with new ones. The meetings I was attending have been replaced. Therapy has been discontinued. Exercise is now an important part of my daily schedule. Blogging is consistent and healthy. These are some of my mooring lines today.

There are always about eight strong mooring lines in place in my life at a time.

i hear you techno...its so important to inspect those lines as well, b/c what they once provided may not be what you are getting...and if you aint got em, your ship will get tossed around when the storms come...b/c they always do...

fuMy mooring lines are my faith in God. They never change, however much I do, or however much I try and to untie them and throw them away.

Like LL Cool Joe, my mooring line is my belief and faith in God. HE is for me, the place to go, when I need to find the direction to go.

Your words and the picture you chose show that you find great strength in your mooring lines whatever life brings your way.

The mooring lines we choose to utilize are the necessary foundation to minimize the water we take in and/or the eventual sinking of our vessel. Very nicely writen, TechnoBabe.

I'm on your wavelength. The Now is an incredible opportunity, and it's all we really have.

Do you read Eckhart Tolle? Or The Teachings of Abraham?

I love the analogy of the mooring lines, TechnoBabe. Change is definitely inevitable, but sometimes the changes are truly life-altering. Thank you for sharing this.

"falling overboard into the murky pain of the past"
That's a great line.
I know you are musical and this post reminds me of a great song.
The Voyage by Christy Moore

The lyrics makes me think and the Irish sound sends my mind traveling.

I'm so glad that you have these lines to keep you strong, and that also one of them is blogging as that means we can all benefit. Not only does it keep you 'moored' but you're radiating it out aswell. Lovely. x

I think you are well moored. And it's a good thing, because you are very special and need to stick around in one piece for some of us who need you! Like me.

See now, this is a grand reason why I enjoy coming here. You weave words to explain things which, otherwise would sound mundane.

I don't know that what keeps us steady is nearly as important as that something does. It's a good thing to know they can change and yet stay strong.

Hey Techno, We are on the same wave length these days. I'm working on the mooring lines too and aware of the changes and need for growth and reinforcement.

Well said. Keep up the good work! xo j

this is so visionary. and i love the word mooring, sounds so immense, which it is appropriately.
i have visions of pillars holding me up, like when my dad died, one of my pillars was gone, which was a painful thing but also a good thing in the long run, as pillars shouldn't be parents.
your mooring lines sounds strong. you have indeed walked this earth.

I too am fortunate to have strong mooring lines. Although my boat has hit a few waves off and on but then the calm is welcomed.

I think the hardest thing for me to learn was that it was okay to let some mooring lines go and replace them with different ones.

This was beautifully put. I think it's an indication of maturity when we realize that we need such mooring lines. I'm glad yours are in place, and that you are comfortable enough to change them as they grow frayed and new ones do the job better.
