A Great Fit

When my three children were young my time for myself was often when I had a bath. Having an evening bath has always been relaxing for me.

Last night I had Calgon time. Pouring extra Calgon into the bathtub, I told hubby I would be awhile. No rubber duckies for me; the toy stuffed dog is our only "pet".

Stepping into the tub in the new place was welcoming. The temperature was just right. Very warm. I scooted around in the tub and then I realized something. This is a righteous bathtub for a little rental cottage. The back of the tub is made for someone like me. It slants upward with a slight curve for the back. No need to roll a towel for under my head or use a bath pillow. This tub is made for laying back and relaxing. Can you see the indentation for my head? But the best part is it comes equipped with arm rests. Have you ever had arm rests molded into the bath tub? This is amazing. I was so comfortable I was snoozing when I heard from somewhere far away my sweet hubby asking if I had fallen asleep in there.

"Wazzat?" was all I could say.

He laughed.

Finally I knew I was home in our new little hippie house. The bath tub was made for me. It is a perfect fit. I think I will email the owner and tell him thank you from his newest tenant.

No, I have never seen a tub moulded to contour the body like that, what a wonderful invention! It looks as though you truly have come home, eh?

Sounds like a great bath tub... nothing feels better to me than my bubble bath but I don't have a tub like you do, enjoy.......:-)Hugs

Ha ha sounds great!

I don't shower but I like a bath, but I never linger in there. I just do what I have to do and get out as quickly as possible! :D

Sounds like you really enjoyed yourself! We don´t have a bathtub, because it uses up too much water.

I him a big fan of baths, so I fully understand your joy in that great bathtub. What a lucky "extra" to have in your new home.

Wonderful bathtub! Someone who knows about baths must have installed it. I am a shower person, but occasionally I'll take a bat, but I've got nothing like that one, just the old fashioned kind. I think I know where you will be spending some time. :-)

That is an amazing bathtub! I would love it!
I haven't taken a soak like that in years, I used to do it a lot, but the past few years it's just been showers every day. I'll have to indulge myself one of these days.

Enjoy!
All the best,
Eileen

When I moved into my new place one of the first things I did was take a bath! I hadn't taken a bath in over 10 years as my old tub was so small and crappy and I never had enough hot water to fill it even. Life's little pleasures are the best. It seems when we lose sight of that, unhappiness follows. Beautiful post.

Shadow, I feel lucky.

Shrinky, That's why I say this tub must have been made for me.

Bernie, I have bubble bath and then sometimes the Calgon. Thank you.

LL Cool Joe, I'm telling you if you had this tub you wouldn't be able to resist.

Betty, I know about your rain water and I admire your stamina. Maybe you can have a bubble bath at a hotel next time you travel.

Brian, it would have been sinful except I felt I deserved it.

Clippy Mat, our landlord did rehab work in this cottage over the past year so we benefit from his work.

Jeanie, yep, this tub is a dream come true but I didn't know I was dreaming about it. Ha.

DJan, our landlord told me he specifically tried to include things a woman would like when he did the rehab work.

Eileen, I do so hope you soak in the bathtub soon and benefit from the warmth. We don't have jets or any bells and whistles but this suits me perfectly.

You have me in the mood to take a nice bath, with candles... my tub is not nearly as nice as yours! Lovely post TB! xoxo

I remember those days - the bath was the quiet place, the relaxing place, when the kids were finally asleep.

Love your "pet" and love that tub! I'm so glad it's a perfect fit!

Nice! Congratulations.

And now I think I must take off and pour a bath ...

That is perfect! I have never even heard of a tub like this. I will have to store this fact away in my memory just in case we ever do get a new bathtub(we so need one). Sounds perfect dreamy. Good for you!

What a cool bathtub. When my kids were growing up, my quiet time was after everyone had gone to bed. Even hubby. I would have the whole quiet house to myself if even just for 30 minutes.

oh man, i want one of those!!

how wonderful it was there for you to discover that way. neat surprise from the universe!

thanks for your good thoughts for Bill, he'll be good as new soon!

My grandmother used to take baths every night. I wish I had a nice tub. I would definitely use it more!

Oh that's wonderful. It looks so cozy. And that would be such a lovely gesture to tell the previous owner that you're pleased.

JStar said...

Yea, I am a bath girl too...I HAVE to take a nice long bath every night...I rarely even take showers...

I'm coming for a visit and a bath.

Hi Ina, Candles are definitely good. Nice scent and flickering light.

Talon, Hubby and I turns with our "pet"; on top of our computers, on our pillows, with us at breakfast. We get a laugh out of it.

Denalee, enjoy your bath. I am glad so many others like a bath too.

Lori, I would recommend this tub to you.

ellen, same for me, quiet time after they all were in bed.

Goddess, you can tell I am really liking this bathtub.

Kristina, my grandparents didn't have a shower, it was bath tub only.

Hilary, someone really thought through the changes this past year getting this place remodeled.

JStar, you are such a calm person I figure you for a bath girl too.

Mami, come on. You are welcome.

I had my first bath in 30 years rather than shower last year: oh my! I had been missing something sweet!

I've never been able to lie in a tub because they hurt. You're so lucky to finally have one that works!

WOW...I've never seen a tub with a head rest ~ You're totally uptown now! Enjoy!!

Score! That tub is awesome!

Casey Freeland said...

Wait, they still sell Calgon?

Rock Chef said...

Calgon?

Over here, Calgon is stuff you put into washing machines to stop them clogging up with chalk!

Good to see that you are settling in!

Dave King said...

You seem to have it made. Enjoy!

Hi Vinny, We will be doing some things to the front lawn and planting flowers at the porch railing so I will show our work then.

Gary, we all forget how to relax and enjoy a calming bath.

blueviolet, a bathtub was not comfy for me either in the past. I so wish you could experience this one.

Jillsy Girl, I'm uptown, downtown and all around town!

Mama Zen, yep, quite a score all right.

Casey, you should put a ribbon around a box of Calgon and give your wife a half hour in the tub.

Rock Chef, I really enjoy the differences and the similarities of our two countries. Sometimes I read blogs in UK and I don't know what they are talking about.

Dave, thanks. I feel spoiled.

Whoa! That is a seriously fabulous bathtub! There's nothing like the perfect tub is there?!? When we remodeled our bathroom a while ago I got into every tub in the store and searched for one that was "just right".
You are living right Techno-- This is a dream tub. Enjoy! jj

I used to take baths and read. Now I never seem to have the time for it. Maybe that means I need to make some changes in my life. On the other hand, I don't have to worry about pruny hands anymore.

Cheryl Kohan said...

Perfect! You deserve that tub...it was, indeed, put there just for you. Kinda puts a different spin on winter, doesn't it? On those bitterly cold days you can just be toasty warm in your tub.

Have I ever told you how much I love the quote in your heading?

Your new little hippie cottage with the perfect tub sounds amazing.

Our rental does not have a tub in the master bath, and the one in the bath for my two teens...well, it bathes two teens.

BTW My word veri is "paysiren" : -)

Love a good tub. If it were up to me, I'd have a big iron clawfoot. We have a good size tub, though. With jets. Not something I would have bothered to install, but it was already here.

I don't often have the time, but if I do, or if I'm sick, there's nothing quite like setting the water heater to "scalding," letiing it work, then soaking those aches and pains out.

I am so jealous. All I have is a shower... no tub whatsoever. Just a simple bubble bath sounds nice :)

terri said...

I've never really enjoyed baths, and now I know why! I've never had a head rest or arm rests!

Hope you enjoy many more baths in that lovely tub!

We have a spa at our house, we use it almost every night.

Syd said...

Nice. We have a large whirlpool tub but seldom use it. I need to take time to relax in the tub again.

A soak in the bathtub is heavenly once in a while :)

I like to have a hot bath, and then a cold shower after.

But bathtubs in houses are rare here. Only in better hotel rooms.

Julie said...

Oh, my gosh. An indention for the head...and arm rests? That tub is awesome! It looks so big, too. It makes me want to fall asleep:)

Congratulations on your lovely place and beautiful tub. I am so happy for you, sis. Yes, you DO deserve it!

Marla said...

That is so completely awesome. I am really happy for you. The one thing I miss the most about our last farmhouse was giving up the huge clawfoot tub.
