Gary The Potter Did It Again

The latest item we ordered from Gary Rith, potter extraordinaire, is a gift for the granddaughter. Actually for her dog. She has a yellow lab and I asked Gary to make a food bowl for her dog and he did a great job.

Today is my granddaughter's thirteenth birthday. I sent the doggie bowl to her in plenty of time to arrive before the special day and her mom kept the present till today.

Success!! My granddaughter appreciates the yellow lab hanging on the side of the bowl and she thinks Gary is a pro potter. This is one of the best received gifts ever.

Thank you, Gary, for another wonderful piece of hand made pottery. We're not done with you yet! We have a couple more items we are watching for on your blog and etsy.

What a beautiful piece of pottery. I almost feel like drinking out of it myself.

His work reminds me of Denby China. It's quite unique to the UK I think.

It's chunkier and more earthy than most modern china today.

Great gift.

Well now, there's a dog who will eat in elegance. That's nicer than my day-to-day dishes by a damn sight.

Even so, I wonder... what would a raku toilet bowl water dish look like ;-)

That's a beautiful bowl! I love pottery, but I have stopped myself from collecting (very hard to do!) as I have no more room for anything, in fact, I'm trying to purge now.

I have to read back here because I haven't been able to get to your blog, I keep getting an error message, and I also left a long comment on your library post but it never showed up.
'Getting really tired of Blogger!
'Hope this goes through.

Happy Birthday to your granddaughter!
All the best,
Eileen

Our town thrives on pottery and other creative activities and sponsors an annual arts festival in honor of the founder of Shearwater Pottery here. Their standards are high and this doggy bowl is right up there on the appealing scale!

"Well-received" is a modest understatement, but it does convey the delight a grandparent feels in a gift that is treasured by the recipient grandchild. So thoughtful, and sends the message that what is important to her -- her dog -- is worthy of something beautiful for everyday use!
