Constant Craving

If you don't know it by now, I am a big fan of of KD Lang's voice. If I could sing, this is the voice I would want.

When I think of craving, I don't think of food. Not food for the body anyway. My cravings have to do with sustenance for my inner being. Nurturing my soul is what I seek daily.

I am not perfect. Surprised? Ha. Living in this little town has put me around kindness and caring that I have wanted in my life. Thinking I was not worthy of love and believing being tough and disconnected was my only way to get through life, I prevented gentleness and serenity most of the time.

Now I understand that when I am challenged I am able to deal with the hard stuff without giving up the great stuff.

She's great! My cravings take non-food forms too. Music and art can always be counted on to make me feel better. I have often spent my last few dollars on a bunch of flowers, and consider them as necessary to my sustenance as food and water.

I believe she is originally from Alberta. I have always loved her voice. I wish I could say my cravings were never for food...I do have cravings to get outside and carve my rocks...glad you are liking your gentle place. hugs to you.

Patience is the virtue we need to have. That is what I pray for all the time.

Good call. Maybe I'll have to dig her out later on. I like when someone reminds me of something I have but haven't listened to recently.

That happened to me over the summer, when I was reminded by circumstance of Natalie Merchant's Tigerlily, and got to listen to it with as much enthusiasm as when it was new. It was just sitting there on the shelf, waiting to be remembered.

I've got a bran' spankin' new copy of the Bartok string quartets to get to first (yeah, I'm kind of of schizophrenic in my tastes) but I'll put k.d. on deck.

And seeing another comment... ya know, maybe I'll buy some flowers for the table. Haven't done that in a while either.

And it's a sunshiny day, too. Well, this has been a productive visit. Thanks and have a great weekend.

Great insight, TB!
And yeah, it's never really just about the food.

Years ago I went to a kd lang concert in Boulder. I was in the front row, and she did a slide across the stage and almost fell into my arms! I think she is amazing. Did you see her sing at the Olympics? It was all over the airwaves.

Craving things that give sustenance to the inner soul seems just about the best thing to crave for.
(I still crave chocolate though!)

I just heard her sing her new song "I Confess". Thanks for this new view of one of her great old songs.

Although I've known about kd lang almost since she came on the music scene, I never gave her much thought. Then recently, I heard her sing Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah and realized what I'd been missing.

I love KD Lang's voice. Just magical. I've worn out some of her albums :)

I'm so glad that you have found the love and caring that you've always deserved, TechnoBabe.

A lovely voice and a lovely person.

I really admire kd lang for her honesty and values. And she is a very strong personality.

Yes Cinner, her home town is Consort, Alberta.

I got my 'K' mixed up and at first thought of KT Tunstall.
k.d. Lang did a beautiful cover of "Skylark" for the movie "Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil"

Oh girl, why am I not surprised that you have brilliant taste? Isn't she fab? Funny what you said about moving to a small town to lose that abrasive edge - that's exactly what happened to me, too - but it was far from overnight! Took me a few years to aclimatise to the gentler pace of life (I blush now at how I was when I first arrived here).. thank goodness the locals proved very forgiving.

I love her voice too. My favorite album of hers is actually the sound track for the movie Even Cowgirls get the blues. Another singer that I love Sarah Bettens has the same kind of voice that makes me want more.
