Learning More About Each Other Online

One of the ways we learn about each other in Blogland is reading the answers we post when we receive an award. My friend, Sarah, at Cottage Garden Studios, is sharing an award with me. This particular award is appropriate for me right now in my little hippie life right now. Thank you, Sarah, for the share and care, my friend.

This part of the award is a hoot. I answer the questions that Sara proposed.
So hold on to your seats.

1. What food could you not do without? Is coffee a food? No? Oh heck. I suppose bread is my mainstay. Hubby makes our bread with whole wheat flour. Sometimes he puts in sunflower seeds and sometimes raisins. You get the picture. I can make a sandwich or just have toast. Or French Toast. Yum. Or break it up and add veggies for dressing. I can go on and on with the Forest Gump shrimp thingy here and make it about bread.

2. What is your favorite scent? Candles we order online from a candle company in Arizona. My favorite fragrances blend as the candles burn: Patchouli, Orange Slice and Sandalwood in one candle. Even just walking past an unlit candle is a sweet experience.

3. What talent do you have that we don't know about? I cut hair. Some people know that already. Cutting hair is how I paid for gas and upkeep on a car in high school and I continued to cut my own hair and other peoples hair the rest of my life.

4. What actor makes your legs turn to jelly? Johnny Depp.

5. What season makes your heart sing? Fall. Cooling down from hot summer, leaves turning glorious colors, crabby people getting mellow in the cooler weather and beginning to think of Thanksgiving and Christmas.

6. What is your favorite activity with your best buddy? Playing dominoes with hubby. Actually it is the complete experience of us making a meal together and sitting at the table eating and talking and playing dominoes. Laughing, eating, playing, some touching hands and flirting too.

7. Would you rather take a vacation with your critter or your family. Family is always first but if I had a pet it would be considered part of the family.

8. If you were stranded on a beautiful mountain top for a year..what could you not do without? My knife so I could forage food and build shelters. Not a little pocket knife.

9. Tell us one hearts desire? Paint furniture with a signature design that would turn into a money making business.

10. Tell us one thing that just might shock us all!! I am sixty four years old. Shocking, isn't it???

I will pass this along to the following six bloggers:
(as always, if you choose not to accept, it is totally acceptable, you do as you need to do, if this can't be a fun thing for you, shine it on!)

Eddie Bluelights at Clouds and Silver Linings
Mami at Unknown Mami
Gappy at Single Parenthood
lisleman at A Few Clowns Short
Jeanie at Living Consciously
And Sassy Pants Freckle Face

If you got this far, and you choose to accept the award, here are your questions:

1. If you blog anonymously, are you happy doing it that way; if you are not anonymous do you wish you had started out anonymously so you could be anonymous now?

2. Describe one incident that shows your inner stubborn side.

3. What do you see when you really look at yourself in the face in the mirror?

4. What is your favorite summer cold drink?

5. When you take time for yourself, what do you do?

6. Is there something you still want to accomplish in your life? What is it?

7. When you attended school, were you the class clown, the class overachiever, the class shy person, or always ditching school? Describe who you were if not one of these.

8. If you close your eyes and want to visualize a very poignant moment in your life, what do you see?

9. Is it easy for you to share your true self in your blog or are you more comfortable writing posts about other people or events?

10. If you had the choice to sit and read or talk on the phone, which would you do and why?

So there you have it. For those blogs on the receiving end of the award, I hope you enjoy answering the questions. Then make up ten new questions of your own and pass along to six blogs of your choice. Have fun.

Congratulations on your award!
You were given great questions, and you passed on great questions too!

I'm a carb addict so I loved your bread answer! And if you ever do paint furniture, let me know, I love painted furniture!

I've been playing catch-up here again, this time I commented on each post I've missed.
Loved them all!

Will definitely remember to put you on my sidebar this time (if I don't forget by the time I finish typing the verification word, which would be 'par for the course' with my mind lately! It's scary, really.)
All the best,

Love playing dominos with my wife - she is mega competitive and refuses to stop playing if she is losing. You are 64? Really?

My favorite scent is the smell of fresh rain. Love it!

It was nice getting to know you better this way. I would never have guessed that you are over 60! That was a shocker. :)

Your answers were very interesting. I wish I could cut hair. Although I cut my husband's hair, it's with a guard on the clippers, I would never try otherwise.

I too love bread!!!
Summer is by far my favorite season and the hotter the better. I especially love the tropical fruits.
You are a very young 64. Love your zippy spirit.
I too love to play Dominoes, I bet you have quite a few tricks up your sleeve, Missy!
I am not a candle fan... probably due to my asthma.
Thanks for not including me. I dislike these question and answer posts. But I like to "play along" in the comments.
You are so fun!

Ooh thanks Technobabe! Will definitely take you up on this. Am in need of a little light relief after my last post!

How did I know that you were in your sixties? Have you mentioned it before? Because I knew that already - I don't know how - but I did...

Love the answers you gave to those questions. x

Unknown Mami said...

I'm answering here if that's okay.
1.I like blogging anonymously. Many people IRL know about my blog. I didn't start off blogging anonymously to keep it a secret, I did it because I'm used to performing as an actor and I was afraid that somehow this would turn into a performance to, that I would become a character and I just wanted to be me and honest.

2.When I was a little girl I was at a restaurant with my mother and "misbehaving", she told me that if I didn't stop she would make me eat one of the jalapeƱos on the table. I looked at her and grabbed one of the jalapeƱos and put the whole thing in my mouth and proceeded to eat it. She says that tears rolled out of my eyes, but I swallowed it.

3.When I look in the mirror, I see my double chin right now. I wish I could say something else, but right now that's all I see because it bothers me so much.

4. My favorite cold drink any time of the year is water. I love water.

5. I haven't taken time for myself in a long time. I need to. I would go for a long walk by myself.

6. I hope there is always more that I want to accomplish in life. There are so many amazing opportunities and I never want to feel like I'm done.

7. In school I was a clown, an over-achiever, and shy. In senior year of high school I ditched a lot. What can I say, I was well-rounded.

8. I closed my eyes and I saw nothing. Well, it was more like a saw a jumble of moments.

9. It's not easy to share my true self on my blog, but that's why it's worth it.

10. I'd chose to sit and read over talk on the phone anytime. I don't like talking on the phone, which is hilarious because there was a time when you could not get me off the phone. I see the phone as a tool to make plans. Reading is an adventure.

thank you for thinking of me and my blog.

I will answer the questions but it take a bit because I just became busy (in an OK way). I'm not sure I'm going to continue the passing of the award.

BTW - do you like the Beatle's song "When I'm 64" ? I would have never guessed your age.

Hilary said...

Fun and fine answers.. and questions. I'm having trouble buying the 64 part though.

Congratulations! I like your answers.

Good questions, great answers. So lovely to learn a bit more about you. And I was sure you were about half your age. That is how you "look" to me, although your wisdom should have been a tip-off.

Congratulations on your award. It's well-deserved.

Eddie Bluelights said...

Congratulations on your award.
Thank you very much for passing this lovely award to me - I really appreciate this kind gesture from a lovely lass with a big heart.
Already I have done my post - I got quite carried away last night with it and loved responding to your great questions.
I have passed the batten to 7 more people but would like to add a few more at some point.
This is a great way of getting to know people. Wish I had a lot more free time - I would do more of this.
Hugs ~ Eddie x
PS Regards to guitar man James

Great answers Technobabe. I am soooo with you on the bread thing. I would love to cut it out but I think I might rather die first ;0)

I am normally so lazy with these things but Eddie has tagged me so I better get on to it!!

i really enjoyed reading your answers. it does allow us to get to know our blogger friends a bit better. And, yes, your age does surprise me. I'm not sure why, but i guess you must come across as much younger in your blog....not that you're old, that is! :-)

blueviolet said...

I love that your hubs makes the bread! Now you've got me thinking about homemade bread. I didn't know you cut hair. I would love to have that skill.

Green-Eyed Momster said...

I have to ditto your answer to #4! Wow!

I need a hair cut.... Any chance you might be in Arizona any time soon? ;)

64, huh? I don't know why but I've always thought you were younger than me. I was shocked when you said you were a grandma in one of your posts.

secret agent woman said...

I bought a candle once that was labelled as having the scent of "beach." I nearly swooned when I smelled it.

I am not shocked by the 64 but surprised. And I'm not even sure why. I think I always imagine everyone is my age. So you're really 47, tight?

Lola Sharp said...

Oh I loved your answers! Hellloo Johnny Depp! Yummy. Johnny Depp, bread and coffee just might be my perfect meal! ;) (sorta joking, 'cause I really love my husband)

I have never played dominoes.

I cannot believe you are 64! You have a very young personality. Plus, isn't 60 the new 40?

(and while we're going with that...I turned 40 in isn't 40 the new, um, 30?)

Thanks for being you. :)

The Urban Cowboy said...

I also enjoy making a meal with my significant other, there is just something about spending time in the kitchen for me.

64 is just a number cause your heart and spirit is soo young and fresh! Cheery and uplifting! I am glad I have met you on blogsphere! :)

I love scented candles too!

Congrats on the award! I enjoyed your answers :-)

The monastery in my post is now in the hands of the Rosminian fathers.

We have the same jelly knee reaction to Johnny and the same favorite season.

This is such a thrill to read,
I love learning about bloggers in this way.
I can visualize them enjoying their days...

and of course, the age thing got me.

that is so cool that you make homemade bread. I used to , we make a lot of things from scratch. perhaps I should give the bread a try again.....

Mrs4444 said...

Those are great questions. I have a hard time thinking of a label for myself in high school. Honestly, the easiest one that comes to mind is "socially invisible," in my mind, anyway, but people tell me I was cheerful and funny. I just don't remember feeling like I fit in.

I love the smell of candles, but Mr.4444 is allergic to many scents, so I don't bother. :(

Yum. I love whole grain bread with "stuff" in it.

Enjoyed your answers :)

Joanna Jenkins said...

OH--MY-- GOD!!!!! Your husband makes your bread. I am swooning! How cool is that.

You did a fabulous job on answers and the new questions Techno. I learned some new things about you and enjoyed this very much.

I commented on a later post of yours and in the comment mentioned that I answered your questions for the award. So I thought I should comment on the post that gave the award out.

So please take a look at the answers.

Thanks for this. I will look into that candle company. We burn candles here and enjoy the scent wafting through the house.

Love your answers! I have patchouli candles all over the house, too. :-)

You are NOT 64 years old!! :-0 And here I thought I was way older than you... I had to laugh at your comment on my recent post about my new toll booth collector job. I thought to myself "wow I am really showing my age by complaining about all the standing and reaching I do in 8 hrs".... really Susan, STANDING and REACHING??!! Um, yep, I'm approaching 50 with grace, huh?! :)
