Do Do Do Looking Out Our Front Door

I mentioned in a previous post that it is not unusual to see tractors around town on the city streets. I need to remind you that the town we live in has less than 1100 residents. Hubby took a short clip of some tractors going down our street and we laughed so hard putting this together I hope you hear it loud an clear. Enjoy.

Wonderful!

But I have a question - looking at the speed they were going, wouldn't it be faster (and healthier) to walk?

But who am I to question their ways?

hahah very nice...my son would have loved to see the tractors...

Rock Chef, we had so much fun making this little video. I was laughing so much I could barely sing. Glad you enjoyed it. Cars drive 20 mph here so the tractors are the right speed.

Brian, Yes, your son would have liked the tractors, and people wave and are so friendly.

How cool! My sister lives in a retirement village in Florida, and they have all kinds of golf carts on the streets, but they are joined by cars going way too fast. This is MUCH more like it!

Jeanie said...

Very cool....I guess the tractor drivers feel like-if you've got it, flaunt it. :)

Ok, that is absolutely hilarious to me!

20? That is great! There have been moves over here to get speed limits like this in residential areas, but with little success.

Around here -also a very small town, even smaller than yours (about 700 population I would guestimate) -much of the traffic along our street, especially on weekends and also, at all hours of the day and night too -consists of atv's! Those lovely four-wheelers who come here to head for the woods and hills just beyond the village but usually after a stop at the village watering hole (i.e., bar) about 3/4 of a mile up the road from us. Then they leave that place, race down the street to the trails and dirt roads and leave, in their wake, all kids of gravel and dust plus a ringing in ones' ears that lasts a while after they've passed through too! My daughter was so angry with the 4-wheelers one day that, big rake in hand, she walked out in the middle of the road and actually stopped a couple of these clowns riding through and gave them a dose of her own "what-for!" The noise often drowns out any conversation or the sound on a tv, boombox, stereo, whatever -and from time to time, those who feel the need to finish off their day of riding in the wilds at the local pub whiz past here to points unknown as late as 1-2 in the morning. But still, the local gendarmes can't seem to catch these clowns! My inner curmudgeon came forth this morning -can you tell? (But I really liked your video and the music too!)

Your town is the cutest. How'd you ever find it?

And I love your video.

That's hilarious. And I love that you put your own music and voice to it. I could picture dancing around like Ellie Mae. ;)

tractor pulls - the big event there?
I enjoy your singing and music - you have a great voice.

Gary, Thanks!!!!!

DJan, We are enjoying the little town more than we had anticipated.

Jeanie, There are so many different tractors here and some drive their riding lawn mowers down the street.

blueviolet, glad you got a chuckle. James and I had such fun with this.

Rock Chef, it makes sense to keep speeds down in residential areas, but in so many places people are in such a hurry they don't think of the families living there.

janeywan, thanks, and hope you are doing well.

savannah, yep, we sure do agree.

Mama Zen, thanks, glad you enjoyed it.

Jeni, serenity is necessary in our life, so the noisy 4 wheelers would not be welcome here at all. Sounds like you need a neighborhood stop the noise program there.

Maggie May, we didn't always live like this coming from San Diego. This is exactly what we need at this time of our lives. Tractors and riding lawn mowers are the usual here.

Ms.A, not everyone would like this setting; it works so well for us. You must like peace and quiet too.

LL Cool Joe, glad you smiled and enjoyed our fun video.

Pseudo, we found the ad for the house rental on craigslist and contacted the owner. We then did research on this area. This is such a blessing to live here.

Hilary, yep, James played guitar and we sang. Played like kids.

lisleman, there are so many sizes of tractors here; this is farming area but the "city" part is 14 blocks of homes and large yards.

I love it! And I would love to see tractors be the 'norm' for driving around my town!

You have a beautiful voice! With nice projection, you could be on Broadway! Lovely!

All the best,
Eileen

You would expect those tractors to all have some kind of attachment, like a plow or something. Maybe this is the way folks "cruise" in your town. Cute song. Wouldn't have guessed that was your voice singing.

Claudya Martinez said...

Oh my gosh, they should have an ice cram tractor! How fun would that be? Then you could run out and buy ice cream from them.

i love the tractors we run into around here....UNLESS i have to follow them on a busy road :(

You are lucky to be watching these tractors merely rolling by your front window.. try getting stuck BEHIND a convoy of them on a one-lane road!! NOT fun.

Haaaaaaaaaaa, that is incredible! Loved the soundtrack, is that you? You have a wonderful voice, I simply love your accent!

What a lush and green place you live in, too.

That's a great video. The only tractors that drive by my house are tractor-trailers. But it's also funny, 'cos though I live in a fair sized city, if I go a mile east, I'm at the waterfront. Not swimmable, of course, but pretty water views. Then, a couple of miles west, are working farms. Probably not as big as out there, but you can still get stuck behind a tractor, and that's all staying on the one big road that goes clear across town.

It's funny too, because I get the small town appeal, I really do. But to me, solitude, peace, and quiet are really an internal thing. If I have no pressure, no demands, no stress, I'm happy. I just don't notice the city noise.

To me, "peace and quiet" is doing what I want when I want, even if that's nothing. Especially if that's nothing. Anything beyond that is gravy.

Yes, cool - if you're not behind one.

Funny! When I was a teenager and not allowed to use my parents' cars, I once sneaked the lawn tractor, which went 4 mph, into town 10 miles away. Needless to say, there was no second time.

I love tractors.
And farmers.
And little towns : )
And front doors too.

I put it on my dad's facebook page. He loves tractors!

It's common to see tractors here where we live too. There's a huge pasture in the river bottoms and the guy that owns the land comes up every few days to bring them hay.
I actually drive around our community on my tractor too.
It can be an angry tool. Hook a bush hog on the back and it will shred small trees.
Y'all should get a tractor :)

There were many times as a teen that I got stuck behind tractors on the road.

Awesome. Great job on the video and the singing. There are tractors on the main road on the island where we live. I so enjoy the country life.
