Disclaimers

1. If I ever use the word crazy in any of my posts to describe someone or some thing, it is not to be associated with a medical condition unless I am specifically writing about a mental situation. Between my hubby and myself, we have plenty of off the wall and abnormal. For me, I don't see things in that light. I use the word "crazy" in many ways. Crazy in love. Boy, are you crazy! Which is really a compliment. What a crazy day. I give myself the freedom to use the word "crazy" without attaching hidden meaning even though sliding words under the door and go BOO! on the other side is something I do often. This is a crazy paragraph; I think you get the gist of it if you are awake and have enjoyed enough morning coffee and have read some of my previous posts.

2. When I write or speak about love I am writing about love in my life as it pertains to my relationship with my hubby and a newly discovered and growing love of myself. I am not leaving anyone out who does not live my lifestyle. I do not have a closed mind about who other people pick to love or have a relationship with for whatever reason. Since this is the first time I am in a healthy relationship and I am able to work through trials as they present themselves, I speak from that place. This is the first time I understand how to be in a long term relationship in a healthy way. Loving myself, my husband, and my fellow human beings is the love I write about and cherish.

3. As I wander around blogland and leave comments, it should be noted that I am not the voice of authority my comments would leave some to believe. I don't have all the answers; in fact, I don't have very many answers. If my comments seem to portray wisdom, that is just the way I write. It is not authority you are reading, it is experience. And that is just something that comes with age.

4. I don't own cookbooks. I get a general idea of a recipe and then have fun with it. Half our meals are experiments. Since I don't measure precisely, the recipes cannot be truly duplicated. But every variation is another way to express my culinary unrestraint. Very seldom do I share a recipe on my blog and though I show a real recipe, that is just similar to what I actually make.
Simple, down home food is what I like. Gourmet food is unappreciated; thus, a fancy restaurant is wasted on me. I have always been a cheap date!

5. This blog is no longer associated with the the domain name I held for five years:
the technobabe.com. The only url for this blog is thetechnobabe.blogspot.com.

6. Regular reading of this blog will not cause blurred vision, vertigo, or itching. It may, however, bring on tingling in the extremities, profuse sweating, and slight heart palpitations brought on by giggling and swearing when you read some posts. At least, I certainly hope for a reaction.

Well, I'm crazy and it is a medical condition, so you can feel free to call me crazy. AND, your blog does cause me blurred vision and crossed eyes, just before I hit control +, to increase the print size to "old lady eyes". LOL!

Ms.A, Funny that I write each post with large font but on the published post is small. Hugs to you.

smiles, i always like to check the fine print for the side effects...smiles. keep writing that love....

All sounds good to me!

Reading your blog always gets a reaction over here!

You sound like a person very comfortable in her own skin. Congratulations...many never reach that level of wisdom.

I laughed at some of these. Thanks. It's gray and rainy here. Though, as per a previous offering of yours, I think rain in itself can be fun, or at least worthwhile, I'm rather affected by the weather, and waking to gray is not always the thing for me.

A day to visit, not to write, for me. The only posts in my head for now are political, and I'm not in the mood. As much as I write about politics, I rarely enjoy it. Throw me a prompt if you'd like ;-)

Hope all has been well. I'm still struggling to make a return. Where is Autumn? I depend on the cold weather for a burst of energy and renewal. So far, nothing. One of those weather things, though more serious. A gray day is one thing, but I'm missing my favorite season. Please, let's not go right from summer to winter?

OMG palpitations and sweating too?????? ;)

Brian, speaking of smiles, you cause so many people to smile.

Rock Chef, a reaction is good, whether good or bad, better than apathy.

Gail, only after much hard work in recovery, and continuing the process.

Cricket,I know many people are affected by the weather. I used to be. Finding a safe, peaceful place in my being as well as the little hippie house has helped me even with what I used to think of as gloomy weather.

Gary, you already have those in your life.

I guess I'm "crazy" enough about your blog that I already knew (or would have guessed) a lot of the info in these disclaimers.
I always appreciate the wisdom of your experience.

I just like YOU and the way you write. I wonder what brought this blog post on, did someone write to ask you to cure something? Or your advice? You do dispense plenty of your own brand of wisdom here and I take it right in! :-)

Thankfully I can enlarge the font on my iPad. Regarding recipes, although I do follow them, I don't get anal about precise measurements & I modify the recipe with wild abandon!!

Great post my friend! xo

:-)

A good reaction, of course! If I start thinking things like "what is that silly woman going on about now?" I will say so in the comments. Remember, I like to be honest...

I love watching cooking shows and I wish I had the ability to make recipes on my own. But I don't, so I have to stick to recipes!

I am getting those tingling in the extremities you mention. Hopefully it is a good thing : if not I will sue - disclaimer or no disclaimer.

Hmm I wonder why you wrote this post now? Interesting. I read your blog because I always think you have a slightly different perspective on everyday life. :)

you are so funny....i think i'm starting to sweat a little bit :)

You made me laugh. Adding to your humour was the fact that one of those disclaimer ads for some medication was playing on the television in the background.. just as I got to your last disclaimer.

Hi Techno, What a great theme for a post. I don't believe I've ever seen that before. I'm a regular reader so I knew I good deal of this about you but your presentation and writing is so terrific it left me feeling like I knew you better. And that last one... Ha! Blurred vision-- So THAT'S my problem. Here I thought it was just old age on my part ;-)

Jeanie, gosh, we have been reading each others blogs long enough we know each other pretty well. Cool.

DJan, Ditto. Yes someone said something that prompted this post.
I don't call it wisdom, I call it learning process.

Ina, love the wild abandon when cooking. Me too.

Rock Chef, I know and appreciate your honesty.

Kristina, your life is full and busy. Some day when you have slowed down some you may find it easier and fun to cook. I think you are good at whatever you do, so why not cooking.

Alan, you read the warning, so that is where my responsibility ends. Ha.

Joe, are you saying askew as in unhinged or twisted and wonky? Thanks either way.

beth, glad you enjoy my writing. I certainly enjoy yours.

Hilary, I never thought I would make people laugh; an added bonus in blogging.

Joanna, your mentioning your "old age" on my blog doesn't compute since I am so much older than you are.
I have reached the age that I am one of the old ladies saying "what does age matter anyway" when I never said stuff like that when I was younger.

I use crazy the same way - it's not really a legitimate term psychologically. And crazy can be good.

Nezzy (Cow Patty Surprise) said...

I tend to think outside the box a bit. In my Special Ed. classroom when the students would say, "Mrs. Nezzy, your crazy." I'd just relply..."I'm not crazy...I'm unique!" Heeehehe!

Whatever ya call your blog~I'm readin' it! That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

God bless ya and have a fantastic weekend sweetie!!!

Flip made the observation long ago that every Woody Allen movie has the line "This is craaaazy" at some point, always spoken by him. We used to wait for it, and then high five each other, laughing.

Much of my cooking is experimental, too, except that by now I'm pretty sure what works. And I also like elegant food as long as it's genuinely good and not just pretentiously presented.

A lot of similarities in your post to my own mode of operation too. Although I do use cookbooks for certain types of cooking -baking cakes, pie, breads, cookies and to try new recipes I come across as I peruse cookbooks -which is what I LOVE to do more than even cooking stuff -I rarely use a cookbook for fixing some things -like spaghetti sauce or chili, things like that. As to the disclaimer on the word "Crazy" -I understood that aspect before you posted it here! In my own case though, people have frequently told me "You're crazy!" and my response has been, "Yep and I have the papers to prove it too!" -which always pisses my older daughter off when I say that. The same applies to your explanation of the word "Love" -understand your meaning there, just have never achieved it in the manner you have done. Doesn't stop me from trying though every now and again. Peace and keep penning your words of wisdom. Nothing says people HAVE to follow your words to a tee -just nice to have some guidelines where we may have gone awry at times though.

Mama Zen, you are taking your chances.

secretagentwoman, I knew you would get the "crazy" spiel. I think crazy is good sometimes too.

Nezzy, you still are unique and very sweet.

heartinsanfrancisco, I can see you and Flip waiting for the "crazy" part and then doing the high five. You have so many good memories. I am just now building some.

CiCi said...

Jeni, I know cookbooks are a passion for you. I look online for recipes and get the general idea and then go for it.

Savannah, so glad I made you smile. Cool.

Maggie May said...

Glad you've made that clear. Might've thought we were all heading for the crazy house!

I don't bother too much with cook books. I sling it all in and it comes out OK. Well my lot don't seem to complain.

I like large font but I do't always get things to stay as I want them to either.
