Summer Seven

Joanna at The Fifty Factor invited her readers to join in her Summer Seven fun, so I am adding a post to the group. Here is my contribution to Summer Seven: Off-The-Top-Of-My-Head Summer Happenings.

1. Hubby made new garage doors and I scraped the outside walls of the the garage, then brushed them with steel brush, and painted three sides. Only one more side to paint. Whew.

What do you think of the Before and After?

2.This summer I started using my camera more, taking photos and experimenting with angles. This has been great fun. I tried and tried to get a shot of a butterfly with open wings and it did not happen.

3. Last winter was our first winter in this little hippie house and we found several things we would want to improve before we spent another winter here. This summer we checked things off the to-do list in preparation for winter. Bring it on, we are now ready.

4. This summer I started a photo diary of the construction work at the new library site. It is one block from us and I can see the work in progress. That will be fun to show the different stages after the new library opens.

5. I have been painting the bedroom a robin's egg blue. There is one small area left to finish this morning.

6. Hubby is working on his music, re-working the songs he finished last year and composing more tunes this year. His spirit is in such a good place and his music is better than ever.

7. Knowing my vision was not clear enough, my appointment with the eye doctor clarified I have cataracts. (Get it, clarified?) I have been wearing progressive lens glasses and after the initial adjustment, I am used to the glasses and can walk in and out of the house without feeling like I am stepping down into a pit. Eventually cataract surgery will be necessary and I have resigned myself to it going well when the time comes.

Want to share some things about your summer? Visit Joanna's blog and join in the fun.

I enjoyed Joanna's 7 and now yours. Your husband did a fine job of that garage as did you with the photography of its weathered look. Keep on snapping shots to share. They're so much fun to see.

The barn looks really GOOD! You guys did a great job! I love that you are taking more pictures and sharing them with us. It´s makes me feel more in touch with you. Keep on practicing. I have been slacking in the photo taking dept. It´s all so Grey over here (winter), so nothing catches my eye....

I am enjoying your pictures very much. And the barn looks amazing! Hubby had cataract surgery and it went so well that it made me wish I had them, too! He used to wear pop bottle glasses and now he only uses distance glasses when he wants perfect vision for driving. He doesn't need glasses for the computer, for around the house, or at all if he didn't need to read street signs! I hope the same for you.

Your barn looks great. It must be fun to paint it with your husband.

You did a fantastic job on the garage. That must be very satisfying to make that kind of change.
I know several people that have had cataract surgery lately and it did go very well for all of them.

Hi Techno, Thanks a million for playing along!

I am very impressed with the garage door transformation! WOW!!! You and James did a fantastic job. It looks brand new and so charming, especially with the yellow trip and the swinging chair next to it.

Robin's Egg Blue is a fave color of mine and I'm sure your bedroom will look cozy and inviting. There's just something about that color that always makes me smile.

We've enjoyed your photography here in your blog. Seeing the start to finish progress of your library will be very interesting.

I can't say I'm ever ready to "bring on winter" (brrrr) but it sounds like you and James have done a great job and will be much happier this winter in your new home. Glad James' music is going so well and you are adjusting to your glasses. I'm off today to get my first pair of distance glasses ever. As the doc said "I'm of a certain age" and it was time. Big sigh.

Keep enjoying what are clearly happy days in your life and thanks again for joining in.

Photographically I prefer the former. If it was my garden, the latter :)

The garage doors look fantastic, as does the photography! I still can't decide on a camera and I'm green with envy of my bloggers with beautiful photos. Keep it up!

Hubby had cataract surgery, earlier this year, and loves finally being free of glasses.

The garage doors look great! It sounds like you're keeping quite busy with home improvements.

And even though the butterfly's wings were not opened, it's a great shot!

Love the garage doors.
All the photos were lovely and its hard to believe that you have cataracts. Hope you can get them fixed before they get too bad.
My friend has just had one eye done (successfully) and has to wait her turn for the next one to be operated on.

I know this from personal experience - shooting a butterfly with open wings takes insane amounts of patience, and a bit of luck as well which makes the butterfly stick around long enough...

Looking forward to your photo experiments! Hope your eyes are better now...

The garage doors are so pretty! And you've been busy. I love that satisfying feeling of picking up the brush or hammer and getting something done on your own. You should be quite proud of yourselves. ;)

Hard to believe summer is almost at a close...
