It Is Already Starting To Bruise

Remember, don't eat anything after midnight. Don't do like you usually do in the morning and walk into the kitchen with eyes half open and reach for a coffee cup. The aroma of coffee brewing will be such a temptation. But do not drink coffee in the morning.

Take a shower early and put on plenty of layers of warm clothes. Trudge out to the garage and push the button for the garage opener. Keep trying. Huh. Maybe minus nine degrees Fahrenheit is too cold for the automatic garage opener. Unplug the automatic doothingy, and pull up the huge heavy garage door. OOF. Heavy SOB isn't it. Two car garage isn't so much fun when the garage door has to be manually opened, huh. At least it didn't snow more during the night so the shoveling yesterday doesn't have to be repeated.

Icy slippery roads but at least the destination is only a few miles. Piles of snow at each corner, hard to see around the huge piles, can't tell if a car is coming. Pull out carefully at each corner. Whew. Made it to the big parking lot.

Walk inside, let them know I am there. They escort me to the back area. Nice lady puts that huge rubber band thing around my arm. Pump. OUCH. Do you have to take that much blood??

Whew. It is all over till next time. Hubby said he didn't know that having blood drawn at the clinic was a nerve wracking white knuckle experience for me. Hah. He will remember for next time. Guess I told him!! I need coffee.

Funny! A lot of people feel that way about having blood drawn.

I don't know where you live, but my ride to work was slippin' and slidin' with a number of cars in the ditch.

Luckily needles don't bother me. But going without coffee is just the worst.

Technobabe,
Thanks for stopping by. I really enjoy my cats (4). The boys only want so much cuddling. The girls could cuddle all day. Some are very talky, and others just give an occassional meow. I would recommend one. They are less trouble than dogs, in most ways.

My husband just had to have blood work done and went through pretty much the same thing. Except he didn't have a garage door to open (and holy cow! it can get cold enough to NOT open???). But he does still have a bruise.

At least you get to wear long sleeves now. :)

Sorry about your ordeal, I would of had the coffee. My sister freaks when she has to have blood drawn...thank goodness we are all different. Take care.

Phew, all over till another day...and don't you think they bruise you on purpose?? I hate the ones that have to try ten million times before they find a vein...I mean it's RIGHT THERE - even I can see it!! ;0)

oooo, anything involving a needle wrecks my nerves...

I'm not a fan of it too and have not had to have blood drawn too many times. Glad you survived the ordeal. Have a wonderful day.

Thanks for coming over and leaving such a nice comment on my blog. I just started following you... and wonder if this is just a regular checkup that is the reason for the blood being drawn. I always used to look away when they put the needle in, but lately I've watched, and I learned that some people are good enough NOT to bruise, others are hacks, pure and simple.

Oy! I don't which is worse-- The frozen garage door opener, the blood draw or the lack of caffeine all in one morning!

My blood draws are every 6 weeks (lupus) and I hate the not eating part. I don't mind the needles so much but that big rubber band-- Oy, there has to be an easier way. Fortunately, there is one of those old fashioned counter style diners in my doc's building so I treat myself to breakfast right after the blood work is finished.

Hope things warm up in your neck of the woods. Hang in there.

Technobabe,
Thank you again. I enjoy your visits and comments. Glad you liked the haiku acrostic poem.

BTW, needles . . . not even remotely one of my favorite topics. The only time I "got used" to them was when I was pregnant. Just so many tests than, I had no choice. Heal quickly.

The worst is when they miss the vein.

Technobabe, thank you very much for the really nice comment that you left on my Newtown blog on Dec 4th while I was on vacation.

Taking pictures is lots of fun. :)

Feel for ya. I have to do fasting bloods at least a couple times a year. I always treat myself out to breakfast afterwards. Makes it more palatable.

We need to clean our two-car garage out before we can park either car inside. So you would have to add window-scraping to your routine there if you were in my shoes.

I husband hates having his blood drawn. It doesn't botter me but I sure wouldn't do it in the snow!! Good for you!!

Shew! I'm glad you got this over with! Not having coffee is the worst part. My worst memory of having blood drawn was when I fainted. I kept trying to tell the nurse I have a tendency to do that. I'm a lightweight when it comes to needles. It's not the pain...it's the thought of a needle going in my vein that freaks me out. She wouldn't listen to me. I went out like a light...haha!

I feel the same way about having blood drawn. I can't look. I just want it over. I've given birth. I've had a major surgery. Those were no problem. But I always have a hard time with blood draws!
