For The Birds

My Hubby is great!

Hubby drilled four holes in a small tray that is meant to be a bacon cooking tray for the microwave. He attached four long pieces of weed eater string to the corners and hung the tray from the roof. Instant bird feeder!

We put bird seed on the tray. Hubby set up the camera on the kitchen table, set the video and this video is the result.

Thanks, darling Hubby, for bringing joy and fun into my life every day.

Music credit goes to Atherium. Soothing sounds.

What kind of bird is that orangey red one with the red beak? I've never seen one of those before.

What a great idea! And I think the squirrels will be foiled by it, too. Is that big orange bird a grosbeak? It's beautiful!!

What a thoughtful thing for hubby to make for you!

I have been looking everywhere for one of those trays they don't seem to sell them anymore. I have a new microwave with a grill but I have to be careful what pan I use when I want to simultaneously grill and microwave and I thought one of those would be ideal.

BTW No his pal is still up where we used to live and he has gone up to do a job with him. He is also putting his place up for sale but I don't think he plans to move here but closer to his daughter.

What a simple, wonderful way to share our space with fellow creatures and let them provide inspiration without even knowing it.

You have to get a bird book and identify those. That red thing at the end was an interesting creature. And apparently two is company, three is a crowd. Great fun.

That is so neat! Very thoughtful and clever of your hubby! Didn't take long for the birds to find the newest neighborhood hangout. :)

Well, I'll ask too. What kind of bird is that big red one? Looks like a cardinal on a very bad hair day.

That one bird is really craning its neck. Wonder if he suspects he's being filmed.

Syd said...

Nice job. And great for the birds.

What's that last red bird's name? I don't mean Fred or Earl. Is it a grosbeak something? I googled grosbeak and came up with a possible pine grosbeak. We don't have them out here in my neck of the woods. Your hubby gets gold stars for his ingenuity and sweet gift.

Loved this! We enjoy watching the birds at our house too. Just have a hummingbird feeder out in the yard during the warm months, and a seed feeder during the winter time. The birds all seem fat and happy so I guess this method works.

Enjoy your day!

He's brilliant. If you guys put crispy bacon on it, you might find me out there grabbing a snack.

I loved this! What fun it must be to watch the birds so close up and the music was perfect for it. I loved that the birds would look straight ahead, as if they were really able to eat from here? What a great idea your hubby had!

Robert the Skeptic said...

The next thing to do is set the camera up for a live feed so people like my wife can tune in and watch it 24-7 like she did with the Barn Owl Cam.
