Botox

Botox should be made available in cream form and sold over the counter. Women could apply the cream liberally until their breasts are the perfect size they are wishing for.

"Here, hon, feel this one. Is it the same size as the other one yet?"

An article in cnn.com about Botox preventing migraines caused me to think of other ways Botox could be used.

Too bad we can't inject some Botox into our brains. But a larger brain doesn't mean more common sense.

I have seen some extended family members after Botox treatments. One I know has a puffy mouth way out of proportion and it has changed her personality from an outgoing flirty fun gal to somewhat withdrawn. Botox injections are not an exact science.

I think I will keep my lips and all my other parts just as they are.

I think that's a fine idea. Of course, you won't be able to keep them the way they are. Trust me. Stuff migrates.

It amazes me that people still go for this sort of thing - there are so many people out there who would have been far better off just letting nature take its course...

Good Morning. I've been reading your blog for half an hour. Low-flying collisions, car problems, daughter issues, growing up, polishing toe nails--I can identify with it all. A great blog. Glad I found you.

Botox scares me. I agree completely with you. Just leave as is.

The picture with this post is enough to make me want to leave well enough alone.

I remember when I was a kid watching my mother pulling her hair back and studying her face, propping up her chin, messing with different angles. She was contemplating plastic surgery because it had become the latest fad. I couldn't see anything wrong with her face! And now, I am the one studying my face and wondering what botox would do. Of course, it's just conjecture. Oh, the folly of believing we can stop the ravages of time...

Thankfully I have an adversion to needles...lol...jk...I am not into this kind of stuff to spend the money on it. One of my doctors did talk about me getting a type of botox injection into my neck. Of course work comp wouldn't approve this procedure so it never happened. Apparently it has helped a lot of people with their pain levels.

I'm with you, I will stick with the real thing.

I don't get that whole injecting/inserting things into your body. I'll keep my thin lips and small boobs.

Ugh. It is just so bizarre to me. And really, nobody looks any younger for it. You end up looking just as you are, a botoxed 40, 50, 60 something. I say leave well enough alone because, as you point out, all this can lead to some bad results mentally, physically and spiritually! It's tough being a woman sometimes...

I agree...it's so sad when that much attention is paid to appearance. It's like getting older is a crime or something...instead of a natural event.

TechnoBabe, I had botox injections in my skull about seventeen, that is when I first got sick. That was when I was having severe pains in my skull,
that when they found fluid on my brain...anyway it hurt like hell and it never did anything and I had a forhead without a wrinkle on it. Did not match the rest of my face. so so glad when it went back to normal. It was free for medical reasons....but I only had it the once. So excited for you about your move. loved the comment You left on my blog today. hugs to my little hippie girl.

Can botox makes me more good looking than I am now? :)
Tell me o great TechnoBabe! :)

savannah said...

i had a snarky comment, but the reality of it is that unless there's a medical reason for its use, it's all about vanity and perhaps a bit of insecurity. broad brush, i know, but hey, it's easier and cheaper to grow old gracefully. xoxoxo

I wonder how many people bother to learn how toxic this botox poison is.
Would stop anyone if they put skull and cross bones on all the botox ads?

I just saw a show about a woman who was Botoxing herself into debt, and she was only 24. The show sent her to some "expert" or other, who told her something I 100% agree with: the best anti-aging device is SUN SCREEN.

Joan Rivers has skipped the Botox altogether and gone for massive plastic surgery. The good thing is that she doesn't have to put on a mask for Halloween.

I like growing older naturally, seen too may tight faces that somehow doesn't look normal. (Not to mention the cost).....:-)Hugs

Don't get me started. My mom's last visit was the first time I had seen her after her face-lift, which she seems to think was a medical necessity.

Hilary said...

Oh yeah.. I have no interest in it whatsoever. I'm not even bo-curious. ;)

Vinny "Bond" Marini said...

umm I don't get the big lip think. Goldie Hawn looks horrible. Doesn't Botox eventually go away which is why you need to keep having the procedure done? So eventually, your lips should return to 'somewhat' normal.

I thought Botox just caused temporary paralysis? I think lips get enlarged with injections of stuff like collagen.

Ms. A said...

Guess I'm not up on it, cause I thought it just caused paralysis, too, to keep you from wrinkling up with facial expressions. Thought it was collagen injections that "plumped" things up. Wouldn't make much difference... I'd still be ugly.

terri said...

I have (not at all seriously) contemplated a botox injection for the wrinkles between my eyebrows. But since I can't even manage a flu shot, I don't think I'll ever manage a botox injection anywhere on my body.

Jeni said...

We are such a vain and very, very fickle bunch aren't we? Gain a couple pounds and panic strikes but pay some one to make you look fuller, rounder, whatever and that's a great idea. One surgery to correct this and that will be it but oh, then another area that needs revamped is discovered, so have the surgeon come back again and again and again -and on and on even more in some cases. Do I like the way I look now -or how I've always looked? Nope, not really. But would I shell out cold hard coins and volunteer to have my body -whatever part -used to snip, tuck and trim and still probably not be satisfied because unless you like the person inside the body you live in, cosmetic changes are just that -cosmetic -and in the end, don't really change things that much to the positive.

Hello from your busy Alaskan friend! Gosh I am not getting caught up like I feel I should....Re Botox, I am going to buck the negative Botox comment trend here but I get Botox injections (from an MD) to smooth out the crows feet around my eyes. That's it. I have never had any problems with it. Sending hugs to you and Hubby!!! xoxo

Though I'm fairly familiar with Botox since I used to work in an Ear, Nose and Throat clinic where it was commonly used, I never got over the fact that this Botox is derived from botulism, one of the most deadly toxins known. Right?

Fragrant Liar said...

Yes, Botox has its disadvantages. You have to weigh the pros and cons and make an informed decision if you're going to give it a shot (heh). Whether people do or don't is okay with me -- their life and all.

Clippy Mat said...

Well if celebs are anything to go by, Botox makes them look totally fake. What's wrong with growing older? Why is everyone so afraid to look their age? (OK I am too. but dammit we shouldn't be.)

I like laugh lines and I also hate foreheads that look like masks!

heartinsanfrancisco said...

I think it's spooky when a face registers no expression. I'd rather look like me, no matter how old I get, because I'm curious to see how it all changes. It would be much healthier if our society accepted the natural aging process and didn't have such an obsession with youth.

I see you flitting about the internet, leaving new comments instead of packing! How's the move going, TB? I'm thinking about you and hoping it's going well.

Liz Mays said...

That girl is freaking me out! I think it's fairly obvious when someone has used Botox and I just can't stop staring at the body part that is unnatural looking!

Julie said...

I'm with you, Technobabe. I don't understand why some people think they need to look Hollywood. I prefer people who are real.

I suffer from migraines, and someone told me about Botox for migraines a few years ago. I thought I was willing to do anything to get rid of the pain. Then I read more about what it is. I couldn't do it. Maybe it has worked for others, but I'd rather try other things first.

Berni said...

I'm with you I don't think I would want to try any of those things or surgery unless of course I was deformed but what is perfect beauty anyway if you have a rotten character and personality

Unknown said...

whoa, that's was the effect of using botox in making you look beautiful, beyond the fact that you already are, still you are not contented with what you have. A lot of women wishes to be beautiful, so they engaged into something that they thought would help them to be like what they dream of, to be gorgeous. Knowing that some of those beauty enhancement would ruined their lives, if they used it by their own shallow knowledge about beauty products, as long as there is one person who says this one is good, it helps me look good, or my breast are now augmented and i got my desired size, they attempt to follow it. Gosh, at the end, they became "cat woman" who was obsessed about this stuff, now look at her, she is a mess.

We should have to learned to appreciate the beauty that we have that God had given to us, it is good to improve it, but knowing that we should also consult it to the doctors or experts, (take note they even fail to get the best) so be contented with what you have, because at the end, "TRUE BEAUTY CANNOT BE SEEN, NOR EVEN TOUCH, YOU CAN ONLY FEEL IT IN YOUR HEART".. Thank you..

Today's paper says something equally weird. Women who use hormone cremes are making their dogs go into heat or the male dogs develop breasts. Scientists are going to find out how the hormone creams affect husbands and children next.
