Peace

Glitter Graphics | http://www.graphicsgrotto.com/Maybe peace begins within. When we have reached the place of truth and serenity in our individual lives, we are capable of getting along with others; people in our immediate family, in our neighborhoods, at work. Then we bring a freedom from disturbance as we travel the highways, following the laws of the road and showing courtesy to other drivers and their passengers. The mental calm extends to strangers we make eye contact with in stores, in the library and museums. As we reach out to others, we begin to understand we are all important, we all matter, we all bleed when wounded. We are trying to survive. There is no such thing as status in humanity. Social standing is relative. Our rank is our right to exist. If we all truly understood this, peace would be unavoidable.

"There is no such thing as status in humanity"....I really love this line and you are so right that an understanding of this is a key to peace.

Thank you for the hopeful post, filled with light and love. A very nice thing to read on my way out of bed to a rainy and gloomy Thursday hike.

Remember, a smile helps too.

This was a nice way to begin my day by reading this entry first. We have to start with ourselves and then with the people that surrounds us.

Sometimes even when things are well, everything is calm, an no war, it does not mean there is peace. I think we have to pray for peace.

There's a lot to this one. I like it.

I'm often torn. I sometimes think that people understand peace, power, on the other hand, seems to understand only violence.

I sometimes think that, instead of marching like fools to Washington, if we were to march on Wall Street and burn it to the ground, that would be a step in the right direction.

I look at the Middle East and can't help but think "these people have the right idea." First, teach politicians, banksters, CEOs the true meaning of fear.

Of course, we could say that power is people, but I'm not sure it's that simple. The institution becomes dehumanized, though not always the individuals involved....

It is against my religion to say so, but I wonder....

I really do.

Indeed, and that would be blissful.

Thank you, thank you for one of your very level-headed takes on life and community and just getting along! And boy, it came at just the right time for me today to read this because I'm having a lot of issues at the moment at home, with the older person that lives here with me! Wish you were here or near to me that we could sit and chat over some coffee or tea or water or whatever so I could get a clearing in my mind of ways to not impede on my daughter's life the way she thinks I'm doing or trying to do when what it all boils down to is that sometimes I have no choices in many matters and have to deal from the hand I was given -whether she likes the outcome or not! There. Feel a little better having said that much but not really saying much at all except -bottom line -thanks to you and this post, I'm feeling much more positive now!

Amen! Peace does begin with each one of us...I strive to keep our home one of peace and to take it with us where ever we go. What an inspiring post. Thank you. XX

I couldn't agree more. There was a scientific study done on just a smile and how that feel good positive energy gets translated from one person to another throughout the course of a day! It is actually measurable!

So much wisdom and truth, TechnoBabe. But it does seem a terrible struggle for some to find that place of inner peace, sadly.

Peace extends because it is shared!
The thought of peace, at least, that is!

I like the idea of unavoidable peace very much! If only you were in charge.

Dave King said...

So far as it depends on us, that is undoubtedly true.

our rank is the right to exist. lovely post.
this type of equality is a thing of the past, and hopefully a thing of the future. but you are right, as usual, that it starts within each of us. we must change the only world we can, ourselves.
great to see you again. it has been too long.

I wonder, sometimes, how the world would be if everyone believed that everyone else had an equally valid place in the world.

I think about this kind of peace a lot. It would heal so much if we could only decide to not judge or condemn others that we don't even know.

Eileen said...

Oh, this is so true.
I often think of the 'not-so-peaceful' moments and situations in my own life, and I know that they have been created from my own inner turmoil.
Great post!
Love and Prayers,
