Snap!

Stop that!
Sheesh.
That hurts.
It is irritating.
Annoying.
Every time
I enter the
house through
the front door,
it snaps me
on the butt.

Photo found on Google. It is not a picture of our front porch.

LOL...we had a door like that...need one of those thingies to make it close slower so you can get inside before it snaps you in the behind...

Reminds me of that song... don't let the screen door hit you, on your way out... The Townsend Band, Smoke From A Distant Fire.

I bet you don't complain if the hubby slaps your butt!

Glad you clarified that the door wasn't yours - I was sure that your new place was much nicer than that!

I'm glad that isn't your front door! LOL!

I was getting worried, if that is your door I think it needs some attention. :D

Donna B, I can barely get in the front door and have to keep all fingers close in.

Ms.A, Yes, music does make me smile too.

Rock Chef, Hubby's slaps are gentle. No complaints from me!

Maggie May, Me too. For some reason, I just like the picture.

LL Cool Joe, No need to worry, thanks though. I know the DIY in you sees things to fix.

Ha--time to fix the door. I didn't think that was your front porch!

I didn't think it was your front porch either. That door wouldn't have given you much of a slap. The poem slaps though, in just the way a poem should slap.

Somewhere I lived growing up had one of those doors. I haven't thought of it in a long time. It looked a little bit like your picture, too. :-)

Syd, The front porch in the picture speaks to me though.

Dave, Thanks for your encouragement.

Gary, Yes, saucy.

Brian, The front door can't get the best of me; I use the back door now.

DJan, I have lived in houses like the one in the picture when I was young.

I love the old wooden screen doors and that sound of the wood hitting wood when it shut. It reminds of days gone by.

That door does look like it came from the abandoned houses on my post. Just a little beat up.

lol! Our front screen door was just like that. Impertinent :) Hubby finally found some time to adjust it - and now it's too slow - lol!

Love those lines. It fits my whimsical mood today. Pictures like this one appeal to me and I wonder about all the stories behind the structure. It has more character than the mass produced "cottages." Sorry, no offense intended.I deal better with wear and tear than with perfection.

When My Dad bought his house in New Hampshire many moons ago, he had a photo similar to the one here that he showed to all of his friends when they asked if he had pictures of his new place. His actual new place was quite nice, of course. He said he got the greatest kick from those of his friends who were very polite and who tried to desperately hide their initial shock.

Oh, you are funny!
We had a back porch screen door like that, until my husband finally hooked up some kind of contraption to force it to close much slower and much more smoothly.
All the best,
Eileen
PS ~ I kind of like that old house/porch/door photo. And I kind of want to be there!

That reminds me of hearing people say, "Don't let the screen door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya!"

What I hate are the doors of some stores that take two hands and your foot pushing on the door jamb to even open them.

I thought maybe the hubby was coming after you (playfully) with a dish towel!

Doors are dark, lovely, wonderfully wicked things. Maybe yours is just saying hello? :)

This made me smile. And that house. I want to go explore and listen to the stories within it's walls.
