Arm, Hammer, Shovel, Big Spoon

Cutie AKannie at Elegant Blessings is sharing a "baking soda" award with me. Cool, huh?
If you haven't read her blog you are missing something I tell you! Get over there and read her blog and then come back here.

If anyone is interested in reading seven more things about me, here they are:

1. I used to have easel, paint box and oil paints, and would sit on the coastline in southern California and paint coastal scenes. One time my two oldest kids got into my box of paints and decided to paint my bedspread to make it pretty!!

2. Keeping with the paint theme, for many years I would scour flea markets and thrift stores for real wood tables and small mirrors and use an electric tool to chip designs into the wood and paint the pieces in blended colors. I was my most happy when I worked on these pieces.

3. One of my many varied jobs in my crazy hippie life was a poodle groomer! Some of the standard poodles were bigger than I was. The shop I worked in was privately owned and pretty fancy. It was great fun.

4. I don't collect things because I move so much, but I have an angel collection most of which are Christmas tree decorations. I did some traveling and would find an angel for the tree in my travels. Each year as I unwrap an angel I say "this one I got in London" or where I got each one and it brings back memories as I hang them all on the tree. That is the main reason I want a Christmas tree each year.

5. I learned to drive a stick shift at age eleven or twelve, most cars I have owned have been stick shifts. The one I have now is a five speed.

6. During high school living in foster homes I cut hair for ladies in the neighborhood and gave them perms for money to feed gas into my really old almost running car.

7. I was a brides maid seven times before I was a bride and then brides maid several more times after I married. One time I was seven months pregnant with my first child and my brides maid dress had to be altered at the last minute.

Now my turn to share this award. If any of you already received this award I apologize now, you know my heart is in the right place!

Hey, Julie, at The Buffaloe Pen, I'm sharing this award with you.

Jim, at Suldog, here is an award for sharing your mystery dates with your wife with us.

Kathy, at Grace was Calling and I Didn't Pick Up (isn't that an awesome name for a blog!!) I am sharing this award with you.

The first car I owned was a stick. I couldn't even drive it home from the lot! I haven't owned one in many years, and sometimes I miss it. I DON'T miss it when I'm stuck in traffic!

Congratulations on your award, do you still paint. I always like learning more about you. take care.

Such an interesting life. I'm always in great admiration of those who can paint, sculpt, etc. I don't have an artistic bone in my body.

You probably would have liked grooming our old dog Doogie. He was a poodle mix and the groomers always commented about his easy going disposition. He even knew to move his head and close his eyes when they were rinsing him.

I was the same as Kristina P. My first car was a stick and my Dad had to drive it home from the dealer even though he hadn't driven one in years. Then, my boyfriend at the time had to teach me how do drive it.

Thank you! I feel honored and humbled. I want to give some thought to my seven things to be fitting of an honest scrap. Speaking of which, your seventh item is quite an interesting series of sevens! I've also always bought cars with a stick shift, too, but in my case it could be a control thing. :)

Oh Technobabe. I couldn't help but bounce right back here to comment on your comment.

I nearly included "Pride and Prejudice" in my list along with "Anne of Green Gables." I've read it many times. It's one of my all-time favorites.

And I lived in San Diego, too.

I think we really were separated at birth.

Hi TechoBabe
Back from San Francisco and had the most wonderful time!
Good to be back here getting caught up on the posts I missed while I was gone!
It's always fun and so interesting to learn more about you and appreciate your sharing it here with us!
Thank you, my friend!

Do you still have the bedspread that your kids painted on?

I can just imagine how much fun it was being a poodle groomer!

I have never learned how to drive a stick shift, hubby tried once but I was a lost cause! LOL!

Congrats on the award!

I shall visit Elegant Blessings when I have some time.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Margie :)

Hey, Technobabe! Thanks for the shout out. I took a sneak peek at the links and will go back and read them in depth tonight (when the house is quiet). They look awesome! But, of course, if you recommend something or someone, I always check it out. I also enjoy reading about you and your life. The angel collection sounds great. Thanks again & have a beautiful day!

I gave most of my angel collection away last Christmas. I couldn't afford to buy gifts for people so I gave my collection away.

You're very interesting. I loved reading more about you.

Hugs!!

Congratulations on your well deserved award! I loved the story about your kids painting your bedsread. Apparently, they have inherited their creativity from you.

Here's to manual transmissions! Have driven one all my life. Sometimes I just zone out on the process of changing gears and I get a real charge out of that. Loved your list and your comments on my blog today. We share that tendency in the middle of crisis to hang on by fingernails and wits.

Congratulations on your award.
A poodle groomer, that's different.
I love your Christmas tree tradition. I know my adult kids love to come and find were I put their favorites each year.

WooHoo...

I learned to drive in a '56 Chevy Bel Aire....stick shift, out here on these old country back roads. The hills scared the bejeezus outta me!
My boyfriend taught me (his car).

Great list...esp. the last item. I have only been a bridesmaid once. Hmmm...that might make a good blog story one of these days! lol

Sleep well, friend...

You may be aware of what I do to people who give me awards, or you may not. You're somewhat new around my place. Here's an example...

Here's another...

There are others, but those were the handiest. Anyway, luckily for you, I already have the Honest Scrap award. Otherwise, you might have been roasted and toasted by me, and I don't want to do that to someone as nice as you.

If you insist on being barbecued, let me know :-)

I learned to drive on a tractor and still drive a stick. And I still have one of the dresses I wore as a bridesmaid - crimson satin, off the shoulder. It made a great Scarlet O'Hara dress one Halloween.

Great to find out more about you!! I learned to drive a stick when my husband broke his leg about 10 years ago...probably couldn't now.
