The Penny From Heaven

I found a penny today
laying on the ground.
But it's not just a penny,
this little coin I've found.

Found pennies come from heaven
that's what my Grandpa told me.
He said angels toss them down
Oh, how I loved that story.

He said when an angel misses you
they toss a penny down.
Sometimes just to cheer you up,
to make a smile out of your frown.

So, don't pass by that penny
when you're feeling blue.
It may be a penny from heaven
that an angel's tossed to you!

Angels I believe in. I have had an angel covering my back all my life. My mother sent this to me. Thanks, Mom.

I found one on the dining room floor Saturday while sweeping there and getting ready to scrub it up. Does that count? Or does it have to be a penny found actually on the ground?

I wrote a post a while back about always seeing a found penny as a message from my mother who died when I was 18. Just an "I'm here" or "I'm thinking of you" message from her. Fanciful? Maybe, but real to me.

Hi Jeni! I think a penny found is a penny found, no matter where we find it as long as we don't dig it out of someone's pocket or purse! These days a penny is the lowest denomination but it is still a wonderful find!

How are you, Dave? Thanks for your input. Glad you stopped by.

Yo Brian! Your core values and mine are so similar, I know you think so much like me. Hugs to the family.

DJan, isn't it fun to find something to look at differently? Brings some new joy into life.

Hi Jeanie, I thank you for sharing about your mother and how the penny found is a warm hug for you. I so understand. Things that happen have a special meaning for us because we choose to make them special. We need these special times.

I'm going to try to remember that every time I find one. This really made me smile on a gloomy day.

Happy Sunday to you!

I believe in Angels too..

I felt one on my right shoulder for decades... but not anymore.

I feel her/him in my heart now instead.

I love this poem.

Thanks for posting it today.

I have heard this too and I believe it! Whenever I see a penny on the ground I always pick it up! The other day while walking back to my car from grocery shopping I found 4 - $1 bills on the ground! I wonder what that means? On a dog walk I found a $10 bill!! Jackpot!!! xoxo

That is so pretty. I always pick up pennies, they say In God We Trust!

I wouldn't bend over to pick up a quarter.

ARARAR.

Sorry, my wife would tell you that's true.

I do love this poem. I think I've read it before, or something very like it. Very sweet of your mom to send that.

Cheers,

SLC

Tracie, glad this gave you a smile today. Hope the rest of you day is awesome.

Ms Hen, My angel has brought me through so many times. Good to know you know your angel too.

Hi Gayle, Isn't this a sweet thing for my mom to share with me?

Yes, Ina, I find money too while walking. It's not so much how much or how often, but it is such fun to get the little surprise.

Just Breathe, what a great way to say it. Thanks for that.

Yo Spencer, you haven't been in a really hurtin' place yet huh. I hope you never are my friend.

Actually, I have. A lot. I've never been homeless, but I've been in situations when a quarter would have meant a LOT. But psychologically, I just don't pick up coins. Call it a psychosis.

Cheers,

Beautiful! I love the sentiment behind this. People laugh at me, because I'll stop everything I'm doing to dig a penny out of a crack in the sidewalk. I always pick up pennies and keep them in my change jar to roll into dollars when needed. But a penny from heaven is even better!

If everyone sent their pennies to Haiti there would be quite a lot of money. Somehow this post made me think of that.

Lovely poem. Amazing art. Thanks for that.

I'm not really a big football fan (ironic, since I grew up in Texas), but this just seemed like a great moment to capture in haiku, fan or not. Thanks for stopping by.
