New Pottery

The bowl with lid would probably be used as a sugar bowl but here in our little hippie house this bowl is a perfect container for my herbs.

Hubby cut a shelf and mounted it at the back of the stove to utilize the narrow space there. I use the shelf for spoons and seasonings. I am in the process of changing the colors in the kitchen from blue and yellow to red and black and white.

Gary at Gary's Third Pottery Blog makes some wonderful pottery. Really amazing work.

I bought the (sugar) bowl and when he mailed the bowl to me he included a darling gift. See the cat and kitten on the shelf? I like the cats so much and they add whimsey to the kitchen. While I am cooking I look up and smile at the cats.

Check out Gary's blog and say hi. He and his wife are fun to get to know. And I have a couple more pieces of Gary's pottery I plan on buying for gifts.

That cat is cute. It also helps that it's not real.

These pottery items are truly lovely. I like the sheen of them. And it was so nice to add those little creatures. Sharon Wagner did the same for me, she put in lots of extras when I bought a picture from her!

Great idea for the shelf. And your new color scheme sounds great. There's something fresh and vibrant about black, white, and red together. The bowl is lovely and the cat/kitten sculpture is charming! What a lovely gift.

that bowl is cool, and i have had that exact stove in some kitchen in my life. it's a cozy space, with the pots and pans hanging down. the kitchen is the most social and warm place in a house often. i love seeing people's kitchens, even glimpses.

Greta sugar/herb bowl. I have a blueish pottery sugar bowl that was meant to be a honey bowl - I wanted the opening in the lid so I could leave a sugar spoon in it.

Good that you're keeping a lid on it. Sometimes it gets hot in the kitchen. So be careful not to jump from the flying pan into the fire.

The new color scheme sounds very dramatic and is a personal favorite of mine! It's always fun to play with a new color scheme and accessorize and you're off to a great start with Gary's pottery. I read the post about the church group. I'm really amazed you ran into a whole room full of people who all had "perfect" childhoods. I very rarely run into that nowadays. Sometimes when you dig a little deeper, other things come out.
